V6 transmission into my Formula?
Hi guys.
I've broke the transmission in my 98 formula. It only moves in first, 2nd or D just revs with no car movement unless I lift the rear, then the wheels will spin.
There's a guy breaking an 02 V6. Will his transmission bolt into my 98 Formula? And do I need to take his torque convertor too?
Thanks for reading guys.

Ok so you have an AUTO LS1 and you want to put a Manual 5 speed V6 in your car? I don't believe the M5 will work on your car and even if it bolted up I don't think the M5 transmission would take the power. Your best bet would be to get a used auto trans from a LS1 f-body, if your still on stock power. If you really want to Manual transmission you need to go with the T-56 trans. You don't use a torque converter either with a manual trans, you have a clutch. If you do the swap you'll need: T-56 Trans, Clutch and all accs, pedals, drive shaft and I'm sure there is a whole lot more I can't think of.

Thank you for the replies.
It's an autobox from a 2002 V6 that I want to put in my 1998 A4 ls1 Formula.
So all that's different is the bellhousing...is the bellhousing just the transmission casing?
Is it a simple process to transfer the V6 autobox into my ls1's auto bellhousing/case then or am I confused about the bellhousing bit?
And do I need his torque convertor too?
Thanks for the replies, I know very little about transmissions and don't want to make a mistake as I'm on a tight budget.

+ Like a 100 now...Find the right one that matches. If you have a 98 tranny, you will need a 98-99 replacement one from a v8 too. If you do not get a direct replacement or one very very similar, the bolts may not line up, shift points and connectors could be in different locations and it just could flat out not work. Unless its free and you can try it out but I really wouldnt, just keep looking.

used 4L60E's are not very expensive at all. Ive seen rebuilt or used ones sell from anywhere in between $400-$700. Its better to do it right the first time and spend a little extra $$ than to waste your time and money and get nowhere IMO. Good luck to you!

Aside from the difference in bellhousing and input shaft, the V6 5 speed tranny will not hold the power of even a stock LS1. V6 guys have problems with the 5 speed tranny all the time!
