Default Help Removing 1996 TA Trunk Struts

I’m posting this in two places, because I don’t know which one fits better. So I apologize if you come across this twice. LT1 Mods and General Repairs.

I have a 1996 Trans Am, the trunk struts are shot – trunk won’t hold itself open at all. I ordered the replacements and then quickly found an issue. I cannot find a tool that will fit snugly into the octagon shaped bolt holding the struts on. So my question is, how the hell do I remove these bolts, and if there is a specific tool I need, what is it called?

I wish I still had a working camera I would take a picture of the bolt.

If you need any more information, or I’m not explaining something enough, or correctly, please let me know and I will try to supply all information that I can.

Thanks for your help,
