Search the "big 3 upgrade" might be what u need.If u still need an alt a 180 should be more than enough.Ws6 store i believe carries a good brand alt now i believe.BTW a alt wont get u into the 11's,LOL!!!!

Is the alternator pulley an overdrive, or underdrive ?

You should easily be fine with the stock 105 amp alt and big 3. 105 amps x 13v is 1365 amps

if that amp is anywhere near efficient you wont have a problem at all

I believe they are both underdrive.

Ha Ha, closer than you were mod for mod. I think by like 4tenths. WHAT! LOL. At lease i could probably make it down the track without a granade going off in my tranny. I did check out some stuff on the big 3, and i might do that in addition to a larger alt. Might as well.

I've been perfectly fine with a stock alternator, and stock cables (really clean and well maintained though). My sub amp is 400 watts, and my front components are 150 per channel...I never see any voltage drops and never have any electrical issues when the stereo is cranked.

The pulleys are 1 under 1 over...you underdrive the crank pulley to lose less power to the power steering pump and water pump, but the you overdrive the alternator so the car will still charge the battery at idle.

I used my stock one with 2 amps totaling 1600 watts rms and it was fine. I just added a capacitor and a good battery

As has been said, you should be fine without an alt upgrade. I'm running 1200+ watts on stock alt and my voltage only slightly drops if the systems full tilt at night with all my lights on.

I only have 1,500 watts and if I really decide to crank it up I can almost cause my engine to stall out...

^^^check your ground out make sure its in a good spot with good contact. Battery could be getting worn out, amps are hard on them.

Your amps should hardly be touching your battery while driving the car. Your alternator is supposed to be able to handle the load.

x2. The battery should only be affected if your running the system with the car off, when the cars on the alt. powers what it can, but overloading it with too much power can cause it to fail. <1100w should be fine on the alt, anything over can potentially strain it and thats when an upgrade would be needed.

Ideally yes, but our cars are pretty electrically challanged... I'd be interested to find out what the electrical load of driving is... ECM/BCM/Engine/Lights/Monsoon Stereo.... I could see all that using most of the available power from the little alt that's on these... Add on a RE35.1D and you can see why I am dimnming so much...

You don't need an alt, a cap, or a battery. The big 3 is the only thing you're going to benefit from with your system being as small as it is.
