So two days before Christmas we were rearended pulling in the driveway at home. I have been fighting it out with the insurance company to try to get them to total the car.. Well long story short its being fixed and they are doing a good job doing it but I thought I would share with you my painful pictures..

Holy crapola

Reminds me of someone else's 4th gen that they did a splice of another car onto - it came out really good in the end.

Looks like they're doing it right, along the seams and all. Stuff looks pretty straight in the pics.

Dave, this is a real good time to put a roll cage in it! All kidding aside, that sucks man, hope it all works out for you in the end, just keep an eye on what they do and it will be like new again.

You know they are doing a great job when all of the spot welds are drilled out, it looks like a good body shop is doing the work. The only problem that I see how much bondo they will use on the back pillar on the roof line...I know some cars need alot of bondo when they align the body patches like that.

Ouch that sucks. If the car is registered in TX that is a 100% state. Which means whatever the value of the car is before you got hit... the repairs would have to cost that much to total it out. Just an FYI state law from TX Department of Insurance.

They are doing an awesome job. A buddy of mine is the body man and they are doing every step that can to put it back to factory specs. We bought an intire side panel but I chose to have the patch it in instead of taking the dash, windshield, and roof off the car. I know wonce the dash is out the chances of it have a annoying rattle or something would have been a posibility.

When this is all done I will be sueing the insurance for loss of value as well as injury and car rental.. What sucks and the main reason I have been getting dicked around is because the people that hit me and I share the same insurance company.

Great to see that they are doing such a good job in pulling it apart and hopefully putting it back together. Totally sucks that you have the same insurance. Have you contacted the state insurance board to file a complaint against them? What insurance, Farmers?

^^^ I'm going to give you a heads up, please read your insurance policy before getting "angry" with the insurance company. I can tell you for fact that the loss of value in Texas they will tell you to go pound salt because TX auto insurance policy does not pay for Diminuation in value. The injuries yes... the car rental yes those are things that you should get paid for/taken care of. Are they just not willing to work at all with you

as bad as that looks I have repaired worse. and being as the car is that new it would have to have extensive damage to both ends of the vehicle to be considered a total loss, or the repair quote would have to be considered atleast 80% of the vehicle value. which on a $40,000 car, it would have to be about a $35,000 repair to be considered total. as sad as it is, it is the way these insurance companies work. they use any excuse to get money from you, and even more excuses not to pay any out.

and as far as the mudwork on the c-piller goes, it depends on how they do it. if they cut corners and overlap it, the entire pillar will be skimmed. if they butt it there may be only a couple of inches worth.

also do you know if they will be welding the new panels on or using panel bond? so far looks lik they are doing a very good job and doing everything right, so I don't see why they would cut corners on the re-assembly. good luck with it all though

Insurance is a contract... you should read what you sign and what you get for your premium. Yes some companies are worse than others... however as a whole... the standard auto policy is submitted by the insurance company to your respective state... the state department of insurance is who actually approves the policy verbage.

Same insurance sucks in all cases, and I've never heard anything good about Farmers in general. Now that the car has been wrecked are you going to sell/trade it in on a new one so you have a clean car? Everytime I wreck a car it's totalled so i don't know, but some say that the car is never the same again.
