I looked but could not find so I will ask the question.
I bought a gauge cluster from a 1999 WS6, I have a 1998 Z28 is this just a plug and play?? I want my interior lights to be Red. Thank You.

It should work just fine, although the mileage will be recorded on the new cluster.
It probably would've been both cheaper and easier to just buy some red LED bulbs. I just did this in my Camaro and it looks great!

Thanx for the reply. I only paid $10 for the cluster + shipping from Ebay. How does your dash look with changing the bulbs and how much did you spend on bulbs? Do you have any photos of you dash? :D

I actually dont think it will work, but i could be wrong. 1998 was different from the 1999-2002 car for a few different things.. one of them being a working water temp gauge.

I got ripped off on bulbs. You can buy them at superbrightleds.com for like $1.60 each. You'll need six 4 point 194 bulbs.
I can get you a picture...

I have gauges in the dash now. Oil, water, battery and fuelWhat he meant is that the temperature gauge in 98s actually showed the engine temperature as it varied up and down. Apparently, GM got complaints about the way the gauge fluctuated so they changed it in 99. It rises to normal operating temp and then never moves unless there's an overheating problem.

OK but a change like that would be in the sensor, I would assume. I don't know how someone could program a gauge not to go up and down? The 98 & 99 have different part numbers for the sensor, would changing the sensor be the answer? Are there any other issues that are known? Thank You.

99+ will not work in 98s.
i could go through why...
or you could just take the black cover off the back of the 99 cluster and the 98 cluster and lookit the circuit board.
if you switch out the sensors then the pcm will have issues. if you want to use a 99+ cluster you'd have to change out everything associated with all the sensors...pcm, wiring, fuel sender etc.
why don't you just buy some 360 degree wled bulbs from sooper brite LEDs dot com

OK if I can't switch out the whole cluster, is there a film inside that makes everything Red that I can change? I will do the Red LED's if I have no other choice but, my concern is that the parts of my gauges that are Red now will not show up differently. ie= all the warnings, in tach, water temp, oil pressure. I read somewhere that there is a Film that covers the gauge cluster to give it it's color.
OR if i get a gauge cluster from a 98 TransAm?

OK so I have this cluster, I have taken off the back black plastic piece and removed the circut board and am left with the front white plastic piece that has the gauges and the front that you would see if you were in the driver seat. Can I just put the circut board from my 1998 Camaro z28 onto this? And then I would have a Red dash just like the TransAm, that is what I am trying to achive. Will this work? Thank You for any replies. :lock:
