So today I bought from OE Wheels (4) 17x9.5 C6 wheels that have a 54mm offset...

I had TTMs before I bought these wheels, I cannot remember the offset but I know they were a lot smaller than the C6 wheels. I was able to run 275/40s up front and 315/35s in the rear..

Here are my questions regarding the new C6 wheels. With these wheels that have that big off an offset, what is the largest tire that I am able to run both front and rear? 275/40 or can I go larger? Like a 285/40? If I get the 285s, will they rub up front? BTW I always run Nitto NT555 Extremes (Non DRs)

Thanks

I run a 275/ 40 on all 4 corners with my 17x9.5 c6 z06 wheels and they also have a 54mm offset. You could probably fit a 285 tire, I went with 275 just because thats what was on my old zr1s

Yeah I kinda figured they 275/40s would fit.. I was hoping to see if a 285/40 will fit front and back......

Sure they will fit. I'd do 275 fronts and 285 rears personally.

Should have kept the ttms.

I want to be able to rotate the wheels.. Thats why I am going to keep them the same sizes

meh.... I got bored of them. I feel in love the black C6s when I saw them on an identical car to mine.. I had to have them :D

I used to run 285/40 all around when I had a set of 17x9.5 TT2s. I would recommend it if you are also running the 9.5s all the way. I had a slight rub when turning the front wheels, but you shouldn't have that issue with the 54 offset (TT2s were 44).

The C6 wheels that I bought are 9.5s all around. So I was thinking of running 285/40s then

Can someone explain the offset to me. I have read the stickies but I still do not understand what the offset is..

Really? You seem to be on LS1tech a lot, figured you'd know all that. In any case, simply, the higher the offset the more the rim tucks into the wheel well. The lower it is (i.e. 30mm) the more the face of the rim sits inside the rim, making it stick out more.

Another way to put it if a wheel had a 0mm offset the face of the wheel would be right in the middle of the rim. As you add offset the face moves outward and the rim moves inward. Hope this isn't to confusing.

Yes that will work good.

Zero offset is when the hub is at the center of the rim. If you add positive offset; the wheel will tuck in. If you add negative offset; the wheel will push out (this will also give you a bigger lip). The offset number will be relative to the hub mounting surface and the body of the car. Hope that makes a little more sense.
