Default Alignment now or after?

I was woundering if getting my alignment done befor or after I put on my 17`s on my Z28 would make any difference. Also someone told me that I would need to do somthing to the bump stop on the suspension to keep it from damaging the 17 inch SS wheels when the suspension bottoms out. Is this true? Thanks for any repiles.

As for the alignment, it won't matter.

As for the bump stops. GM added a spacer to the rear bumpstops for cars with 17" wheels to keep the axle from twisting (one wheel on a bump, the other in a pothole) enough to allow the tire to contact the chassis. I believe that many guys on here run with out them. However, you may want some input from those same people before you try it. SLP sells the spacer.

I took out that spacer.
My car is lowered though.. on 17x9.5's

Some alignment shops will tell you that you should wait for the new wheels to get an alignment.

It's the tires that matter not the rims as far as alignment is concerned. New tires are flat and square. Used tires usually aren't. But just putting on 17" rims won't change the alignment if it was what you liked on the 16's. I put on 17's and didn't have any bump stop issues, but somebody else may know better.
