Well finally got all my parts for my m6 to a4 swap. Pretty sure i got everything I need, at least the significant other thinks so..


4l60e Out of a 98 and newer
Torque converter
Flexplate
A4 crossmember out of 98+
Trans dipstick tube
Trans lines for cooler
Trans cooler
A4 pedals
A4 shifter
A4 shifter cable
A4 center console
A4 wireing harness

I just like the a4 better. IMO there is nothing better than to just take the ttops off and just drive not having to worry about shifting. Dont get me wrong i like the m6, i just the a4 better...

Yeah the fiancee kept his stock tune from his car just in case. so we are good to go on that part. and i have also been told that ppl would kill for my car.. i got it for a steal.

what are you doing with all your M6 parts? I have an A4 and am wanting to eventually convert to M6...I live in the KC area..so might be close enough to pick up?

I would seriously consider adding an aftermarket stall while you've got it all out. Coming from a M6 to stock stalled A4 may be a little disappointing fun factor-wise.

I don't blame you for going to A4 though, every now and then I would enjoy a M6 but that's only when I'm on open road with no cars around. All other times I love not having to work a clutch.

Oh yeah dont get me wrong i love the m6 but i think that i would really enjoy the a4 more. And i have to agree with you on the open road, nothing better than tearing up the road. I got my fun out of it while it is in. And as for the stall, i drove a a4 auto and its not that bad for me. Im just starting out with all this and i just bought the car the end of jan with taxes. But putting in a stall is not in the cards for me right now. But later on down the road, sure. Baby steps for me right now. ;)

Peddals are out and a4 peddals are in, consol is removed, the 4l60E is all cleaned up readt to go in! The 6speed is all unbolted ready to drop out but i had to come inside to warm up! lol

Thanks. The fiancee has been working on it. i would be too but im stuck at work as i work on his days off. would much rather get greasy working on my car then at work.

Well nothing is going to happen for the swap for the next couple of days the fiancee left for Denver today. Maybe this weekend we can get it done. All we really have left is mount the tranny, the tranny mount, tranny cooler and dipstick. I think.. almost done.:burn:

We got the camaro almost done after a week of not being able to work on it. Fiancee was gone and then I had a death in the family. it wont be long now before i will be able to drive it.. Getting really excited. :D

Almost done had is started. Now to change the interior harness. That's going to be a headache. But it will be worth it. Getting ouber excited. :chug:

ok so things didnt turn out as planned. the tranny that we were using that came out of my fiances car. dont work right. it wont shift into 3rd. got it tore down and some of the clutches are burn to beat hell. :bang: so time for a rebuild. i hope that this works, this is the 3rd time that the tranny has been in and out of the car trying to figure out what is wrong. not fun!!! and if this dont work have to get a different one. :mad: but oh well there is not a whole lot that we can do about it.

You haven't been on the board much then. Plenty of M6 to A4 (or other auto) swaps. Mainly done for racing reasons.

Well got the tranny rebuild started last night. GOD i hope this works cuz if not we dont know what is worng. :confused:

Well got the converter today. So now all we have to do now is finish the trans rebuild (almost done) and once again put it all back on the car. I hope this works. we are getting really tried of trying to figure out what the hell is wrong!!!!!! :bang:

Guess what everyone my fiancee is the man. The rebuild for the tranny was a success. Just a little bit left. I can hardly contain my excitement.... :burn:

U made the right choice.I have both my 02 SS a4/2010 SS m6 and i have just as much fun in my 02 as my 10 and the 02 can smoke the tires @ 40mph just just hitting the gas.When the M6 guys break and u leave them in the dsust then they will understand.

a performance car owner ditching the manual because its to much work to operate. to each their own. it's funny, my last car forum people were ditching the autos for manuals.

The car runs and drives fine its just that the brake booster has a leak in it. So I dont have any breaks. We got another one on the way. I will be able to drive it soon. I hope. Thanks for making sure everything is ok.

for the most part. need to bleed the brakes and put the panel under the dash back on and it will need a good cleaning out and bath. but i have been driving it the last couple of days. so glad that its 95% done.

It was really nice here yesterday had the ttops off and everything but it only got up to about 70. and then we are suppose to have a week of rain and possible snow(YUCK). but it will start getting really nice soon. i hope.

I actually put my cars away for the summer because it is too hot to drive them and cant wait for the winter to take them out.Totally opposite from when i lived up north.

shit if i lived where your at i would drive mine year around. ill park mine for the winter. and drive my saturn.

I dont like to use the A/C in the cars i rather have the t-top off and the windows down and when the Florida sun hit your windshield it is like a magnifing glass and the cars are to slow in the heat @ the track so i just ride my sport bikes around or drive my truck.
