Default Front spring rates for a roots blown car?

Are we just splitting hairs between 275 and 300 lb. front springs and single adjustable QA1's or will there be a significant difference if I choose wrong?

Which rate would you guys go for with a TA with a roots blower and why?

These things are probably about 100 lbs easy with the air to water.

Car will have some other things to lighten it up like bogarts, chromoly a-arms, ASCD hood, no AIR, EGR, TCS, ABS, close to 100 lbs taken out of the interior too.

Stock K-member and will probably stay that way, stock battery location too.

im goin to guess that atleast 300lb springs, i am probly aobut 200 lbs lighter upfront than u and i have 300lbs and they are almost to light. if its a track only car the 275s may work, but my money would go for the 300s. hope that helps

Well, car currently has 440 lb. fronts with Bilstein HD's.

I would call the weight transfer right "not that great". But it's a work in progress still and more of a street setup which I'm slowly gettign away from.

1.74 best sixty so far with the front sway. I've had a couple 1.8's, and more 1.9's

But that's with 3.42's. Going to 4.10's as well.

So 300's though?

That' what I figured.

well if you want it to still handle good ide probly even go with a 325 spring on some strang shocks, that will give you alot better weight transfer than ur current setup and should still handle good if you stiffin the shock up. i drive mine on the street all the time with 300s but they are kind of loose still

Look at it this way. The car really only gets wound out on a straight line. I'm gonna stick a spool in it as well and it has too much *** for me to really get crazy in turns.

FWIW, I hated how the car drove without the front sway attached, just felt like total *** in the front. Didn't help my 60 either.

Didn't bother me too much at first, but everytime I took an off-ramp, I just hated it more and more and eventually threw it back on.

Don't want a completely shitty handling car on the street. But when the green light drops and I put the wood to it, I would like to be looking at a nice blue sky.

Mwahahahaaaa!

You need a Rear Drag Sway bar, that eliminated 99% of what your feeling.

As for the spring, I assume you put an stiffer then factory one in there but a 300-325 should be sufficent. Since you have not done weight reduction and actually you have added more weight on the nose.

Like everyone mentioned I would agree that you need to run at least a 300# spring on the front.

With the additional weight a 325# would be my choice.

I tend to also agree that the looseness you felt could be addressed with a good rear anti-rollbar. If you are going to be serious about drag racing a anti-rollbar is a must.

A link to both of these items can be found HERE

Yeah, that was gonna be my next question.

What lb. spring are you guys with LSX and iron-block's running.

StreetsSilverado, are you pulling tires on a 325?

Before the subframes it was pulling the left front up. I haven't had it to the track with the Subframes, Shock relocations, Anti-Roll bar and the other work I've done to it yet, but I'm sure it will bring them up pretty good now.

I take it you're spraying off the line too right? What gears and rear tires?

It pulled the wheels all motor, I had a 75shot in it for awhile and finally put in a 150. I'll be spraying the 150 for the first time at the track here soon.

This is on the 75shot:

And this was all motor:

I'm running a 28x10.5 ET Drag and that was with 4.30 gears. Since then I've went with a TH400 and 3.70 gears

Wow! Seems like you're getting plenty of hop there.

And you're at 3600 lbs.

Guess I'll prolly go with 325 lb'ers

So if stock is 290, why not just keep them?

1. I trashed them a long time ago.

2. I prefer a coil over setup for lowering and height adjustment.

3. The factory shock may be approx. the same amount of lbs., but the rates would most likely be different.

We're talking about specific springs for a drag shock here dude.
