Yea, I must say the front plate looks like crap. I got my TA down in Houston and the first thing I did once I got back to the motherland (Oklahoma) is take that POS off and order a front plate filler. I think your hosed man not any good way to put the plate in the windshield or even on the car period... but good luck. You could always move to Oklahoma tho.

Look for a "show and go" plate. It mounts under your bumper, and at the flickof a switch it can be out front showing, then when you dont want it, hit the switch and it folds back under the bumper..

Most will let you go if you have it in the windshield or on the dash where it can be seen. I have seen them mounted with the small suction cups on the windshield. Although those are not "legal" they will work. I haven't had a front plate for about 6 years years, just been lucky. If it gets to be a problem I will look into the mount like mentioned above.

In upstate NY here, and I drive my TA with the front plate mounted properly. But I'll install the front filler with the bird over the plate.
Got pulled over for "no front plate". I explained to the cop that I was at a car show yesterday, put that filler plate on for the show and forgot to take it off afterwards.
It worked, because he could actually see the license plate unter the cover. He let me know, and said to get the cover off when I get home. I even oftered to let him follow me back and watch, since we were close, but he declined. But he dug the hawk!

dont have that problem here, but if it has to be mounted vertical, what about mounting on the passenger side sunvisor, somehow??? flip it down and it will be veritcal and in view thru windshield... idk just a thought...
