Red face Question for all you LS swappers out there.

I've been an avid reader of this forum with all the swaps going on. Great job everyone. But one thing that puzzles me in all the swaps is how do you get your stock gages to work? I was thinking about replacing my tired 95 4th gen LT1 and putting a LS something something with an ECM from somewhere something, but what and how do you connect that super duper engine\computer to the gages? And w/o having those pesky little idiot lights stay on. And not running out of gas when the gas gauge says half full. And the speedometer working correctly. and and Anyone? Bueller?

Im using aftermarket gauges in my setup.
But you should be able to use 98-02 fbody gauges in your swap.

Dakota Digital makes converter boxes for alot of the problems you are describing. I am told(in my case) that I can program the GM ecu to recognize the ford tach signal. The SES light can be wired to any type of light. As for the dash lights that come on (if any) in my Mustang, I'm just gonna pluck the bulbs out!

I usually get diagrams for both the car its going in and the engine going in it. Then I cut and splice. Takes time but It gets done right. Took me 2 weeks to get all the wiring spliced, soldered and heat shrinked on an Lt1 swap into a 95 silverado...but it turned on the first time and had no problems.

You can use your stock gauges. Things just need to be wired up. Tach needs to be set in pcm or it will be out. Coolant temp requires running the 3 wire sender used in 98.
