Cheapest place to get a steering position sensor? TPMS?? Oil change???
Hoping someone else here had to replace this steering position sensor and did some looking around. When i posted asking what the problem was, a few told me they paid anywhere from $80-$180 for the sensor.
Where can i get the best deal on the TPMS's? I have 2 that are bad and im about to replace my tires so i might as well get these replaced at the same time. Cheapest ive found is $50 each on ebay. Anyone have any they wanna sell or know if they are cheaper anywhere else?
How often do you guys change the oil in your V's and what oil do you suggest to use? The previous owner ran Royal purple synthetic 5w30 every 5k miles. Royal purple prob isnt bad stuff but ive always been a fan of Mobil 1, Castrol or Valvoline synthetics so ill most like switch to Mobil 1 5w30 on the next change unless anyone suggests otherwise. 5k intervals are prob good though on the synthetic. LMK whatcha think!
Thanks guys!!

And ok, ill keep watching ebay then for the TPMS.
Any way to check if mine are bad before i order new ones? I have 2 that register and 2 that show the --- on the dash meaning they arent reading. Any way to reset them and see if they work before i waste my money on new ones?

To reset the tpms, key in ignition to run....then press lock/unlock on your keyfob at the same time..horn should beep once or twice....then clockwise starting from your driver front tire let air out of the tire till the horn honks, and keep doing the same for the rest of your tires......for whatever reason 1 of my tpms won't set this way, but if you stop by the dealer or any other tire shop they have a tool that will reset the tpms...you still have to do the first step (key on, then key fob) then put the tool next to the tpms sensor, same thing clockwise starting at the driver front.....most of the time they just need a reset, but I'm pretty sure it's just a battery in there so they may just go bad after a while.....give it a shot, it's worth a try.
As for oil, I changed my saturn from 10-30 dino oil to 10-30 mobile 1 at 100k and have 0 problems...the ecotec is a tough little motor though.

I wouldnt think 5w30 to 10w30 would be a big difference. I could understand going from a 5w30 to a 15w50 causing problems but 5w30 and 10w30 are interchangable from what ive been told. Ill prob play it safe and stick with 5w30 though if thats what the car has been getting.

The royal purple sucks, after 3000 miles with royal purple I was almost a quart low, but after 3000 miles with mobile 1 or amsoil I am still always full. There is NOTHING wrong with running 5w30 vs. 10w30 ESPECIALLY WITH warmer weather coming up since the 10w or 5w is a winter weight and when it warms up its all SAE30 anyway.
I have the Amsoil 10w30 dominator racing oil in mine right now and am very happy with it. Oil temps have dropped 5-10 degrees depending on the type of driving.

The NAPA I work at sells the TPMS for $62. Better than $50 plus shipping over the internet for an unknown condition or quality part. If you need a PN let me know and if anybody needs like 4 or more I could probably cut you a deal. It probably wouldn't be worth it for someone to get one shipped.

I paid $90 for my SWPS from my dealer and they are usually higher on everything but I thought it was fair price especially since they programmed my new NAV unit for free. (not bought there).
