Nice! What size tires are you running? If they are stock 245/45 then I'm not messing with anything staggard when I pick mine up.

Paint the grills and frames black, cheap mod, almost as much bang for the buck as a tune or shifter.

Thats my plan but i have some other flaws i need to get fixed paint/body wise so i plan to do all of that at the same time.

Ive considered it, wouldnt wanna paint them though especially in the front where rock chips are unavoidable......i just think it may take away from the front end.

Nothing a $5.00 bottle of Touch-Up paint would not cure. Unless you are entering Car Shows, the paint does pretty good.

Its worth the maintenance IMO. Black grilles on a black car look sexy! Tint ur tails too...

i may powdercoat the grille when i get tired of the current look. Rather spend the money on something else now even though its not much.

Get cheaper...if these cars get any cheaper they are going to be sold out of vending machines.
All of us poor guys (a guess that depends on your point of view) that bought these cars new in 2004 or 2005 have seen an enormous amount of depreciation, I for one, hope that the depreciation starts to level off and the great examples of these cars (excellent condition, low mileage) hopefully don't go for much less than $13K to $15K at the lowest point. Not that it really matters to me as I most likely will never sell, but it would still be nice for the price to be a little higher to keep that exclusivity factor going, no offense. These cars are just a bit more special than your average Mustang or Charger, so it is nice for the price to reflect that.
BTW, does the LCMS in your screen name mean Lutheran Church Missouri Synod? That is the Lutheran Church denomination that I go to. Sorry, off topic...

Synod? That is the Lutheran Church denomination that I go to. Sorry, off topic...I do feel bad for those that bought new. A Cobra of the same year sold for 20k less and still demands the same if not more in the used market right now than a comparable CTS-V. Low mileage 03-04 Cobras sell for anywhere from 19-22k depending on location. Coming from the Cobra to the V I can tell you that is ridiculous. The Cobra is half the car in every way but straight line acceleration.

You should look into doing the calipers also. If you track the car, the front ones will turn a rootbeer color tho.

Black calipers look awesome! I was going to go with red myself but possibly black now after seeing yours...

I think its nice when you see a black car with some blak rims rolling on the highway, and all you see is a huge set of silver or red calipers showing.
we have 14" rotors, show them off!
itsslow98
03-10-2010, 05:34 PM
i agree maxspeed, i love the silver rotors because they stand out, black hides them IMO. Its my daily driver so it doesnt get any track duty except the drag strip every once in a while.

You mean calipers. You're right they stand out and I felt they overpowered the whole side view of the car. Now the huge rotors are more accentuated and aren't too overpowering.
itsslow98
03-11-2010, 04:17 PM
i guess if they got discolored from running at the track itd be an alternative but i like the silver on my daily driver, yea i meant the caliper. To each his own i guess.

From the track, my front ones are now Guiness colored with a rootbeer V. The clear is what ends up turning the 'gold' color from too much heat. On a daily driver they'd stay black with a silver V.

Op: car looks sick man. blacking everything out (lights, grills) would look killer! i agree with you on the calipers. silver looks good. i saw a blacked out V that did his calipers red but he left his taillights red to kind of match it. that looked pretty friggin sweet too. anyways, car looks great regardless. nice job!

Thanks, finally getting to where I want it, main thing stopping me from doing the tails etc is IF(big if) I ever wanna sell it I dont want to pass along a car that will not pass inspection in MD, I think it would be a bad selling point if I ever sold it.....but after going through 3rd and 4th gear last night with good bottle pressure, its gonna stick around for a while lol.
Not to mention I work for The Sheriff's Office and already get enough looks from the high ups for the blacked out windows lol.

LOL! Amen for blacked out windows! 5% all around on mine with 50% on the windsheild... lol Ill ba having my buddy lay 20% over all the rears again to make it even darker and maybe a 5% brow on the top of the windsheild... not sure yet. But dark tint FTW!!
IMO, smoke ur lights! It looks sick and if you dont plan on selling it anytime soon, it will be worth it. At worst, you can always trade ur smoked lights to someone with stockers and maybe even make a little cash off the deal...

yea love the look but i have to hold off for now on the light, i have a 5% STRIP ON THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD AND LOVE IT, ALSO HAD A PC OF BLACK VINYL LAID OVER THE MATRIX ON THE TOP OF THE BACK WINDOW AND LET ME TELL YOU what a huge difference it made to the look of the car.
sorry for the caps but i dont feel like retyping it lol

Thats what im going to do is a 5% strip on top of the windsheild. I really wanted to go 35% on it but he said it would be too obvious and its a BIG ticket if you get caught with your windsheild tinted. With the 50% on there, i can tell a slight difference but it mostly just helps with the heat and reflects a little sun that your windsheild normally wouldnt. Plus with 50%, you cant really tell a color difference on the reg/insp stickers on the windsheild. Any darker and it would be obvious because it makes the stickers look darker. I asked about cutting around them and he said you have to get it exactly perfect and when it comes time to replace the stickers, its a huge pain trying to get it lined up in the pre-cut square just right so he suggested against that.
Black vinyl on the inside of the window or outside??
I need to get rid of mine. It looks like crap but they all have it...

Every inspection place I have been to uses a razor blade to scrape the old sticker, thats going to kill your front tint, if they even pass you... Unless youre going the "Benjamin inspection" route, :D
