Default Colorado State Patrol B4C

Hey guys I have a 2000 Camaro B4C Z28 that i bought last summer. The car was an Ex-Colorado State Patrol Car. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the CSP used aftermarket mods on their cars. Do they have special tuning or what? I found a CSP Business Card under the dash behind the Stereo and it had a Trooper A.L. Flores name on it. You can tell its been back there for a while. Do any of you guys know if they did...I take it the CSP loves fast cars because i found pics of B4C Camaros from the CSP running at a track.

Im wondering because my car seems to be a little faster than an average Z28 camaro. I raced trans ams and camaros that have bolt-ons and i have beat them bone stock with just a K@N drop in filter and a 80 series flowmaster. The ECU wiring harness looks like its been tampered with also because alot of wiring is just being exposed(The plastic covering is missing). Now the car has pacesetter LT's that i installed during xmas break...3"ORY and 4" Mufflex Cat back and a hypertech tune. The car runs really good and what shocked me is that i pulled on my friends SS that has patriot stage 2 heads,MS3 Cam,K@N FIPK,Moser 12 bolt,3.73 gears and its a M6 it also has been tuned with ls1edit.

Trying to figure out if the CSP did something to it and maybe thats why its running so good. Car is also an A4.

Wirings are exposed because of the lights.

My buddy has a '98 B4C from SC. No mods were done whatsoever. I doubt your car was modded for for daily use.

None of the service cars were "modded" that I have ever seen or heard of. Although depending what agencies they come from, some of them get broken in hard and are maintained really well. We have quite a few B4C cars in our local club and most of them run pretty hard.

I will 2nd what David said. They usually don't modify them in any way except for lights and sirens. My '02 B4C was an ex. Cali Hwy Patrol and it ran 13.1's in pretty much stock form with 127k mi on it.

OP, BAD EFX brings up a good point, instead of trying to compare your car to others, just take it to the track.

I already took it the the track. SRCA in Great Bend,KS and it ran a best of 13.8 @ 100mph with nitto NT555 Street tires(Not DR's). That was when it was bone stock. Now it has Pacesetter LT's, Full exhaust and a hypertech and it feels like its alot quicker and top end feels better. Im taking it to the track next month when my M/T Et streets get here.

Good deal... do you still have the LS1 (EGR) intake on it?

the only problem with buying a xpolice car, is they have more than likely been dogged to ****. the camaro cop around here is almost always at wide open. i talked to him for a little while and he said all they do is get a tune and the new lights.

I'll agree that police vehicles usually are run harder, but in my experience of buying and owning several x-police cars (Caprices & Camaros), they have run stronger and been a lot better maintained than your average joe does. Running them hard is not what breaks them down, its lack of maintenance. Also, the majority of B4C's were used as HWY cars, and its a lot easier on the engine to be running at a constant speed on the highway than to be start and stop in the city.

Doesn't sounds like it runs any harder than a LS1 should, sorry.

holy CRAP i completely missed this part (i fail at skimming)...uh yeah. whoever owns that car should either A: sell it and buy a bicycle, B: get a real tune, C: die in a fire for letting a stock auto pull on him since he should have well over 100rwhp over you.

Wait. All you've done to your car is full exhaust and you "pulled on" a set-up, heads and mid-sized cam car?

Might want to keep that claim under your hat until you get some track times. MS3 only and that car should rape yours. You're talking heads/cam/suspension/bolt-ons, etc., and you "pulled on" him?

And, no, the highway patrol didn't do anything to the car. It's your imagination. Your track times are average at best.

I agree with BAD_EFX. There's no way in hell I would ever buy a patrol car. I mean, would you want to buy a taxi cab? How about a rental car? That's what you're getting. Now, a highway squad? Maybe. If the price were right, I'd go for that. But, no way would I own a regular ex-copcar. I'd take a rental car first.

But, I'm gald you love the car! I'm sure it runs great. The stories that car could tell, too!
