Default LS7 Clutch burning up after I went to strip

Went to the dragstrip yesterday and made 5 runs. The clutch never slipped and grabbed extremely well. I never smelt anything after any run, but after the drive home I smelt a little bit of burnt clutch and thought maybe it was just because I ran it hard earlier. Well I drove it to the bank today and when I got home I smelt it again. So I popped the hood and stuck my nose under there and sure enough its that rotten smell. The clutch still isnt slipping at all, but Im sure its just a matter of time before it does.

This clutch has less than 2k miles on it and was installed with an Aluminum Flywheel. Im not putting down hp number anywhere close to what its rated for so I dont understand why it would start burning up like this. I checked the fluid and it looks good. Any ideas?

How can I check that? Could it just be residual strain from running it hard. Its the first time Ive really ran it that hard or done any burnouts. I have the alum flywheel with it and the clutch has less than 2k miles. Ill see how it goes and hope it goes away.

Well it seems to have gone away. I dont smell it anymore. Must have just gotten a good break in cuz like I said that was the first time I really hammered on the car or did any burnouts since I installed it back in September. I really like this clutch tho, its been wonderful on the street and I was extremely happy with how hard it was grabbing at the track.

well I dont know whta your putting out to the wheels. im putting 402 and 396
I am running the ls7 in my car with 4.56 S60 rearend with a spool and Ive gone to the track and launch at 6200 and I had no problems I am running a billet flywheel though I have been told that aluminum flywheels are not what you want in a drag car. they are more geared toward auto cross.

does anyone else have any experience running the LS7 clutch at the track, 6000K+ dumps on slicks?

i have an LS1 with an MS4, good heads, stock T56, 9 inch with 4.11's and a spool. might spray a 100-175 shot if money allows.

The debate about the alum flywheel goes both ways. Actually the LS7 clutch package with the alum fly was only 7 pounds lighther than my stock clutch and steel flywheel, so I dont think its hurting anything.

Im only putting down maybe 330rwhp so its not overpowering the car. I just think it was because its the first time that chutch has been ran hard.

i hope so, im hoping to get 3 seasons out of it. taking it to the track every weekend and making 3-5 passes, and driving it on nice days.
