Default any performance gain from replacing cat back? or just ypipe?

Just purchased the Trans am and love it!

Headers seem like a huge project, something I don't think I could tackle alone. I was looking for some opinions.

I always want cats on the car, hi-flow cats are fine with me, but can I replace from the manifolds back? So a new Y pipe with hi flow cats, to the catback?

Is the stock catback restrictive on a bolt on car? Would it be worth the money to just swap out the Y pipe and weld in a new muffler in the stock catback?

Headers are a great mod. Sounds great, performs great, works well with almost any other mods - except maybe a turbo. Just swapping the Y pipe isn't a great idea. Check out the mod sticky, lots of good info:

Headers are alot easier than they look... Get some 2x4's and jack stands and get it up quite a bit... A ratcheting 10mm wrench helps ALOT ...
