Well, you won't have to buy the paper ones anymore. I don't think you wasted your money going from a crap/throw away paper model to a wash and re-use piece that will last forever and I'm sure is less restrictive..

Wasted money on what? You bought a re washable filter. Paper or K&N is fine.

There are good & bad things about it. I have always used one.
Just make sure & keep your MAF clean.

don't over oil it and you'll be fine. If anything u just saved money in the long run espessially if you like in a dusty area. you can only blow them out so many times..

EDIT: by "them" i mean paper filters.

No, you actually saved money in the long run because you'll never have to replace it again like you did w/ the paper filters. You'll just have to wash it and re-oil it every so often when it gets dirty. Idk why he's saying you wasted your money. I have one in my car and my Durango R/T. They're better than paper.

i have only met one guy that ran a paper filter...if then environment allows, most ppl pull the filter at the track anyway. Definately not a waste...price wise over the life of the car.

I would call it a waste if you bought it to improve power....if it's to save money, then not a waste over the life of the car IMO.

Paper to K&N really doesn't make an impact in power, but it can't hurt

Ummm your brother is a moron for buying paper ones. If you plan on keeping a car for more than a year, then definately go with a re-usable filter.

I don't like K&N for any MAF equipped engine. I use one on my Nova because there is no risk of fouling wires with oil on a carbed setup. But for my LS1s, it's paper all the way.

Truth is, there's really no power gain and it's a hassle to re-oil, and I'll probably stop using it on my carbed cars as well. So yes, for your car it's a waste of money, IMO.

I would not say k&ns are a waste of money. The only problems can come from after you clean and re-oil them. If you do not let them dry well enough you can suck some of that oil in and mess up ur MAF. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with them and they should be cheaper then constantly buying paper ones.

You should never have a problem with a K&N filter if properly cleaned. Make sure it's completely dry before re-oiling and don't apply too much oil, just the recommended amount. The most important aspect of an oil filter is they allow cleaner air to enter the motor. Cleaner air = cleaner motor. It'll add longevity to your engine if properly cleaned when needed.
