Default tranny removal

try to gets the trans out but i cannot get it to break lose. i have the bolts out of both the bell housing and the trans to bell housing. how many bolts are in the bell housing to the motor?

Six bolts hold the bellhousing to the motor. An SBC or BBC has seven but GM omitted the bolt behind the #8 cylinder on the GEN 3/4 motors due to the cylinder's proximity to the bellhousing mounting surface.

It's probably stuck on the locating pins. A bit of PBR Blaster in the pin holes and gentle prying will usually do the trick. If you use the BFH and screwdriver method, you can crack the bellhousing.

Another method is to use heat gun on the pin area followed by some wax (from a small birthday candle) once it's hot enough to melt the wax. If you're going to try this, do it before you use the PBR or other penetrating oil so you won't start a barbecue.

When reassembling, use some copper-based anti-seize on the locating pins and in the pin holes.
