is anyone going to advise him about putting gears in a 10 bolt??? no ok i will...
your rear is going to give if you drive it hard, may last longer than a m6 since your a A4 car but none the less, save you pennies for a 12 bolt or 9".

i thought our rears were actually 7.625 but as 02camarossle stated our rears are a weak link i have an a4 and already blew my 3.73 i had and am back to my spare 3.42. if your looking for a better sotp feel i would just buy a used rear with a 3.42 or higher(numericaly) gear and keep your stock one as a spare. that is if you cant afford a 12bolt 9" or s60

Tips for not killing 10 bolts - don't shock them, or wheel hop too much.

Keep wheel hop to a minimum, do the regular maitenance and get a girdle support and it should survive for quite a while with the auto. Just don't instantly hammer on it from a dead stop either. Once the car is moving a little, then you can jump on it. Mine has 125k on it and still whisper quiet.
