take it out of the throttle body, keeping it plugged in, and turn the key to run for a few seconds, then turn car off, it will extend and retract

nope not as far as the iac goes. gotta 1336 which is case relearn but thats cause its a swap. then after it idles for a while i get a map sensor code cause the vacuum is only like 5 when it should be like 16 and im guessing cause the iac is wide open and not moving could that be something wrong with the tune

well p1336 is the manufacturer code which is p0336 and that is for crank sensor malfunction. I would attempt the crank relearn. my guess without being able to diag it for myself is ther is a deviation in the ckp circuit or maybe cracked or wrong ckp reluctor ring?

no p1336 sets in because its a swap with new stuff and it hasnt been learned which i have to have hptuners or tech II in order to do that. the car runs fine as far as the ckp and cmp circuits are concerned. my problem is high vacuum when i have no leaks(that i can find . sprayed 3 cans of carb cleaner everywhere) so im pretty sure its the iac circuit or ecu. im going to start the car tomorrow and block off the cold air intake after a minute to see if it dies which would prove that its not leaking air from somewhere but that the iac is wide open causing low vacuum. but then if it is im not sure what that means, wrong tune? bad harness? bad ecu? i know the iac is a stepper motor but have no idea how to test it. im going to buy hp tuners scan software and look to see the iac counts i guess.

you do not need a tech II or hp tuners to do a crank relearn. You can use a lesser scanner like on otc or old snap on brick which will both accomplish the relearn procedure.
I also know of cheaper scanner'a that will let you do the relearn.
g/l.

well turns out my hunch was right the iac wasnt moving and it was wide open causing my low vacuum. replaced the ecu and bam. with the exception of an also half bad maf. now it idles like a charm however it wont let me rev past 1500 rpm. anyone know y? thanks to all for advice. biggb1783 do you know what cheap scanner i can do a crank relearn with.
