Default what is this?

hello ls1tech fam. what is this valve with the rubber sleeve coming from the tranny? also, what does it connects to? one more thing, does it have anything to do with the tranny shifting?

Looks like the brake booster vacuum line, just tilted down. Not trans related, there is no external vacuum control of any modern electronic trans

For peace of mind Is suggest using shorter bolts to anchor your chains. Those look ready to break off

mr. pocket the chains r fine. the engine has already taken me 150 miles or so. just tryin to work out all the bugs to ensure complete drivability. the engine seams to outrun the 4l60e tranny to where i have to back off the throttle. also my electric fans have yet to turn on. vendor states that pcm is programmed for fan#1-181 degres and fan#2- 200. any suggestions r appreciated. yes fans do run from from relays to the wire harness.

Adjust the trans tune. A tuner that offers road tests will net the best results

Are you sure the fans are wires in correctly? They're easy to test, ground the wire that goes to the PCM and they should turn on. For peace of mind you can T into the wire for each fan at the PCM and run a manual toggle switch to override the PCM control

Have you hooked a scanner up to it to see what the temp is getting to? Just because the guage shows it at operating temp, it may not have got that warm yet. I had that problem on my first swap, I kept running the A/C so the fan would come on, turns out it just runs really cool.

as ls1nova said.. hook a scanner to it,, mine reads around the 220 mark when it really is at 200, and I also have a square body truck like yours,, I used the adapter that threads into the pass. side head and then the temp sending unit to the trucks gauge,, hopes it helps...

Default on that note

my auto xray 6000 scanner should be in soon. also pocket the vendor states that the pcm has a '06 silverado tune. fans are not grounded, they send a hot + sig. prior to '06, gm pcm sent ground to all acc. except fuel pump relay. this is what the vendor tells me? if it true or not? i just pose ?s to the vendor for explanations, attempt to solve issues, and go from there. any confirmaton/recommendations would be appreciated.

Default adapter

i have the adapter/sending unit in the pass. side of cylinder head with the use of autometer guage. once, i let the truck run idle for 10 mins or so and the autometer guauge read 210 degrees. if you dont know, i must ensure that the fans work before i try to pull off a hot rod power tour. thats my goal. in the works, is a '01 lq4, '02 ls6 cam, with the L92 cylinder heads. im pushing for 2011 hot rod power tour. this year i wont be able to make it. thanks.

Default no burnouts

fptransport. no burn outs, i just want clean, smooth shifting. im running a DBW setup. if you barely touch the throttle, it has a mind of its own. it(5.3) runs better than the 383 stroker i had b4. very responsive.

DEC. every where i've seen , the pcm send a ground signal for the fan relays,, are you sure you have the relays wire correctly?

87 Power Positive (+) to battery/alternator etc..
86 Ignition Switch (+)12v when key on.
30 Out put to Fan (+)
85 Ground from Temperature Sensor Or PCM
87A Is not being used in our application. this is hot 12v when ground to 85 is not present.

Default pcm

the vendor told me that the pcm is wired/programmed with the fan relays to send a hot signal. to complete he circuit on the relay you add ground. he told me this on monday. i even asked them to repeat it. he said it changed in '06. i was under the impression/knowledge that the pcm sent a hot (+) sig to ONLY, i repeat, ONLY the fuel pump relay. i can only go on what they told me.. its their (mine) wire harness. its also their pcm program. i bought everything from them.
relay 30w fuse to batt
relay 87 to fan#1/#2
relay 86 to pcm
relay 85 to ground

Vendor is wrong

Only the fuel pump and IGN relays are called by 12v. Every other relay in the car is called by the ground leg

To test this, unplug the relay and check for voltage on the green wire once the car reaches operating temp when the fans should engage. It should always be 0v

If you've got those backwards then the fans will never come on

Try this and see how it works. I drew it for 3rd gen swaps, so the C100 pin is a 10A fuse. LS1 PCM pins are for the Red/Blue 99-04 PCMs. If you have the Green/blue you need to consult your pinout

Default resolved

pocket, i gotthe issue resolved. i unplugged the relays, used my test light to see if 85 and 86 on the relay were installed properly. they were wired backwards. once 85 and 86 were swithed and and the ground was added to the wirng. fans came on. the vendor explained it wrong. ur were rite. pcm sends ground and the added + hot completes the circuit to turn on the fans. the vendor told me two different things. i know, i know."CALL THE POLICE." thats a quote from one of my coworkers.

Default relay diagram

pocket, i dont know what that diagrams is. its way to complicated for me. here is my version of relay set up. this setup applies to lsx swaps. like i said b4 this si my version. hope this helps out. lsx swaps pcm sends a ground(-) current to all acc. except for the fuel pump. the pcm send hot(+) current for the fuel pump. ex.
relay setup
#30w fuse-battery(+)
#87-to ACC.(+):
must ground (-) ACC. to complete circuit/make turn on.
#86-from/to pcm(-)
#85-ground to frame(-)

yep PCM supplies the ground. You run 12v to the relay, then the ground. 12v hot at all times. You can also run a separate ground like mentioned above to a toggle switch. So you can override the temp settings if you wish.
