Default My "REBUILD" Thread - '99 WS6 (Evil WS6)

I'm making this thread to keep track of my work, and that way if I ever come to sell the car this summer, I have everything stored here on tech.

Towards the end of 2009, I let my car warm up to operating temperature, hopped in, drove for about 5 mins.. then all of the sudden the car shut off when I pulled up to a stop sign. After starting the car back up, there was a loud knock coming from the motor. I immediately pulled over and shut the car off.

After pushing the car home, I started it.. and after about 5/10 minutes.. the car revved up by itself, and boom. a piece of piston flew out my oil pan.. leaking oil everywhere.

Everyone told me I threw a rod..

Oil pan..

During the process..

After pulling the heads.. I found the true problem. ( I think.. )

Detonation in numero uno cylinder.. Piston exploded/ripped out.. a few small pieces of the piston came out of the intake manifold prior to pulling the heads.. and I'm guessing a piece of piston is what blasted through the oil pan.

Now, onto the good stuff.

Just a week ago we started unbolting ANYTHING that needed to be taken off, so we could drop the K-Member and bring hte motor/tranny out the bottom.

Man I really hope you don't get rid of it. What motor did you wind up getting?

Around 88K. All it needs is a new piston I assume.. and maybe a quick check inside. I have a video of all the pistons moving freely (no scraping, nothing broken.. aside from the fact that its MISSING a piston, lol) for when I sell the block. Why do you ask?

I bought an LS6 shortblock with 38K on it. Should be shipped out sometime next week.
