04 Pontiac GTO Clutch
I measured the clutch disc at 11 and 3/4". I was needing to know if it is neccessary to get a pressure plate and a disc or just the disc? If I just buy a disc and leave the pressure plate oem would an 11" disc fit? The entire setup has around 60,000 miles on it and the engine is close to the stock horsepower, so I believe an oem clutch would be ok. Any advice?

Generally, if you your doing a clutch job. I would replace the disc and pressure plate at the same time since you already have it a part. The throw out bearing and pilot bearing should also be inspected. Personally, I always replace everything.

drop the pressure plate off at a brake and clutch exchange that re-lines truck parts. They'll let you know if the pressure plate can be resurfaced or is too thin. When doing a new disc, you absolutely need resurfaced or new flywheel and pressure plate surfaces. (i.e. new PP / surfaced flywheel or vice versa.)

Hmmm. Well we are actually are putting the ls1 and t56 into a 77 vette and we already have the engine and trans apart. The engine has a mild cam in it so I doubt it will need anything more than an oem disc and pressure plate. How much are these running everyone for the combo?
