Default How much is your insurance?

So I was sitting at home tonight after checking my mail, and seeing a letter from my insurance company. I've had provisional insurance for the first 14 days of ownership, and I have a lien on the car so they want full coverage on it. On the letter it says they want to charge me $155.04 a month!

My GTO has a rebuilt title, 53K, I have a very good driving record, about to turn 30, no major accidents, no DUIs, a speeding ticket here and there, nothing more than 20 over. This to me sounds ridiculous. I mean, I pay only $65 a month for full coverage on my Silverado pickup!

But then I thought, maybe I'm not crazy and this is just what it costs to insure cars like this. So what do you guys pay and is it justified?

I've got My gto insured on Full coverage with a lein against it and an old truck with the same coverage because i drive about as much as my car. Together I'm paying right at $1200/yr for both vehicles.

I pay $62 a month for full coverage with a $500 deductible in IL. But I am not shocked by your rate. I was happy when I got my quote and found out it was dropping $5 a month from my previous car with less HP

I think I can make that come down. All they know about the car is that it is a 2006 GTO, they don't even have the VIN yet. I was prepared to pay over $100, I get that two door muslces cars will be pricey to insure, but still. They'll have to come down some or I'll just find someone else.

Well, it turns out my insurance company made a "mistake" on the letter they sent me. It implies every monthly payment will be $155, but what they really want is the first two months and then it's going to be $77.50 a month from then on out. Funny how these things happen. Either way, it's way less that I was anticipating so I'm thrilled!
