Default New Hooker off road headers or Pacesetter race

Man I finally have the money to spend on new headers but can't decide what to get. The new Hooker off road headers are on sale from a sponsor and the Pacesetter race versions are also on sale from another sponsor. The Hookers look like the tubes are longer and more straight than the Pacesetters. They kinda look bunched up if you will. What set will make more power? They both come with bolts, o2 extentions and fastners for $290.00 shipped for the painted ones. Great deal on both but which one is a better header? I've done a search but those are the older sets. These are both brand new. How much will I gain over my Macs btw?

You can't go wrong with HOOKER or PACESETTER just get the coated ones.

Both are good imo. I think power difference is debatable between the two. Cant go wrong with either.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm thinking a good 15rwhp from your macs, and definitely more low end.

they are just going to rust like the painted ones. Why spend the extra 100 dollars?

If you live where it snows and you drive in the winter get stainless. You will get 2y out of the coated ones. Plus the big problem is what hangs the closest to the ground the Y-pipe, which is bare metal. Those headers are great for Arizona weather.

I live in Texas and it never snows here. Well except for last month when we got dumped on for 6-7 inches lol. I've had the macs and duals on my car for 7-8 years and they have only a very little surface rust and they were both just the painted ones. This is no car show car so I don't really care what they look like only how they perform. Now which ones are better? lol Would header wrap help from rusting or hurt? I've heard both? Seems like it would protect them more than hurt them.

I'm also curious to this question (except for Lt1) as I just came across the same sponsor thread.

Not to hijack or anything either but, hasn't hooker always had race style headers?? and why is this sponsor selling them so cheap? summit wants $550 for painted hooker race headers..

not for the ls1. This is the first I've heard of Hooker doing a race version for our cars. I'm ordering a set tonight.

well we would be happy to raise the price on them, lol. We buy direct from hooker and pass along our savings to members of the board. thanks!

I may get some if it slows the rusting process. How long do you think it will take to get em to Texas DFW area btw?

i just installed a set of pacesetters on my friends 02 SS and the were a PITA, passenger went in like butter but driver got stuck on the fire wall and steering knuckle... we had to loosen the pedestal for the motor mounts to tilt the engine a lil to get them to go in.

I installed my hookers and they were a breeze compared to the pacesetter...

go hooker...

besides hooker gives you nice 02 extensions..
pacesetter gives you wire and butt connectors to splice your current 02s.... not good

so go HOOKERS and save yourself the headache

done deal my friend. I'm ordering them about 8:00 in the morning and I've never installed headers before. I'll post up the good, the bad and ugly after I'm done. As long as I get the car about 2 1/2 feet off the ground, I should be good. I'm always up for a challenge lol.
