So it all starts!!!!!!
So, mike went and picked up my new motor friday (i went away sledding, thanks Mike)
got home yesterday and proceeded to rip **** up.
tore it all down, cleaned it a bit, removed the heads and cleaned pistions and deck, etc etc.
going to play with fitment of the oil pump and dual roller today, get it ready to go. i should have something set in stone today on what im doing with heads and have a cam ordered
we shall see what happens. if it wasnt raining so bad i would pull the car out of the non working side of the garage and push it over to the working side and get to cleaning it up and getting it ready. goal is to have the motor set in the car this weekend with the tranny and everything all installed so i can messure for the drive shaft.
then i will slide the cam in when it comes and toss the heads on when they are done.
i will be using my arm head studs to try to keep the heads in place.
getting pretty pumped here, see what i can get a junk yard dawg to do

What are you throwing in the car now? Sounds like a budget setup...
My whole motor's for sale.. slug it in just as it sits and run the 9.50 class, just toss some valvesprings on it and it's ready for another season.... Sell off what was left of the 427 and it would likly cover a good 1/3 of it if not more.

jl, im not selling my lsx parts (for what its worth i have everything besides a set of heads for it, so its worth a lot, rods alone are almost $2,000.00)
but yes, its a junk yard build. see what i can make it do.
timmy, thats perfect, i dont want to race when its hot, that cuts into boating season.
i will race april and maybe may, then probably october if its in 1 piece

i sold the heads 2 years ago, i was planning on going to a 6 bolt head.
i didnt burn anything down, i blew a head gasket. i blew a head gasket on saturday, went home had an old gasket, sprayed it with copper spray and put it on the car, put it all back together and it blew the gasket again on sunday.
didnt burn anything down, i was planning on putting my pistions and **** all back in. sold the rods because they had over 100 passes on them and grp recomended i swap them every 100 passes with my power and rpm

thanks tea.
nothing fancy at all. keeping in my budget. i kicked my budget up 500 tho because i forgot i need a drive shaft i think. so 2500 budget to work with.

Cool man. Iam trying to figure out what the hell I am going to do with my motor now. I am kinda in the same boat. Looking to do a budget build with eaither my current 5.7 and spray it or pick up a buddies low milage LQ9 with some 317s and spray that. Good luck with the build.
