Deactivate auto headlights

Deactivate auto headlights
I was wondering if anybody knew a way to deactivate the auto headlights on an 01 z28? I live on a military base and we're suppose to dim our lights when we come to the gate and I can't since my lights turn on automatically. Plus I would just like for my lights NOT to turn on automatically.

or you could just pull you ebrake one click BEFOR you turn your key on and that will over ride it... or just do what it did, tell them if they want my lights to dim they need to call GM. lol

I wouldn't. I've heard it disables other things as well. I did the fix here to disable the DRL's on my T/A:

I did it this way on both my rides, kills the gay DRL's too. Could easily give you a hand with this, I believe you are in this area.
Doing it this way does work, ie unplugging the smaller blue connector on the cig case sized black box. It also however disables the "Brake" light on the dash, which can affect state inspection, as well as if being an M6 car, you cannot remote/button open the hatch with the car running.

But if you can live with those two things, then it works fine. I don't mind the brake light, but sometimes I like opening the hatch while the engine is still running, so that's a problem for me.

I've read if you do a little soldering somewhere in there it makes it so you're brake light comes on and hatch opens still. I saw a writeup somewhere, but idr where...

Just unplugging the blue connector from the box and leaving it off kills both the DRL's/auto lights and the BRAKE light.

OK, I'm trying to do this right now, already have the radio out. I see the black box, the only problem is that there is ZERO slack to pull it out. I don't care what that write-up says, I have the thing unmounted but there is NO slack to pull it out AT ALL.
I can see two connectors plugging into the back of it, one black one blue, the only problem is that I'm not able to get it out far enough to get my hands on the connector to unplug it. I can't even see how you're supposed to unplug it, is there little tabs or something? This is pissing me off...

Well I wanted the DRL's off too, that was the main reason I did it. Oh I figured it out by the way, scratch my last post. Turns out the harness was just caught on something out of view, but I managed to get it out far enough eventually.
I don't care if the brake light doesn't come on, and I don't care if the hatch release doesn't work when the car is running. I can live with it
