I know what the hood looks like on top, but I've never seen the underside of it. You can ask a member on here i think his username is LiquidSnake - he has that hood and maybe u can ask him to take pics of the underside and then we may help you out a bit more on that.

Your answer is yes but you ll work a little 'extra'at the box area to make it functional with the SS box.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys. I've been looking at t/a's but I've noticed that the z's are quite a bit less expensive for basically the same car. I love the looks of the ram air hood though, so I thought I'd see if it was do-able. Sounds like a little bit of custom work to make the air box fit. Something else to keep in mind.

Thanks,

Russ

Default Can the ram air II hood be made functional?

On a Z28, can the ramair II hood be made functional? Would the SS airbox be a direct fit to this hood (I'm assuming the ss airbox just replaces the regular Z airbox).

Thanks,

Russ

Mine is very much opened and I"m using a WS6 airbox. Its not on the car now but has been test fit. If you're not in a hurry I'll try to post some pics next week when I get back home to work on the car.

The Derek H,

That would be great. I'm in no hurry, just brainstorming. I like the sleek lines of the Z with the ground effects but I LOVE the ws6 hood. If you have or get any pictures, it would be great if you could post them.

I haven't had the hood painted or the inside smoothed from where we trimed the inside of the hood out. It left a small gap between where we opened it up between the layers of the hood. We are going to blast some fiberglass back into that areas and smooth it out. Then go back and paint it. I'm a couple hours east of Houston. The car should be running by mid next week and then its off to the paint shop. If I can get someone to help me put it on tomorrow I'll try to get you some unpainted pics before I go out of town Saturday.

Unpainted pics would be great! Couple hours east of Houston huh? How'd the storm feel out your way? Of course, we didn't get hit at all (lucky I guess).

It went East of my parents where I was staying with the car. I keep it in my dad's shop there so I went home in case I needed to trailor it out of the area. I take classes at LSU in Baton Rouge and it went West of there so kinda in the middle of us. No damage at either of our residences. I will try to grab some pics this weekend. Last weekend we had the storm and work and this coming week I got some mid-terms so I won't be around the car long. I'll try to remember to snap some pics though.
