Check out the 2nd Sticky down from the top of the page.... In this section!
There is all the NHRA requirements for safety equipment.

But to answer your question, Here is what it says...

10.99 1/4-mile (6.99 1/8-mile) or quicker:

-5-point roll bar is still okay to 10.00 1/4-mile (6.40 1/8-mile) in hardtop / t-top with un-altered floors, firewall and frame rails (wheel tubs are okay). If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. or any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of a minimum o.d. mild steel or chrome moly tubing (moly can be a smaller o.d and is lighter but more expensive), see diagram below for specs. Roll cage must be padded anywhere the driver's helmet may contact it while in the driving position, see diagram below for specs.

-Convertibles require full roll cage at 10.99 and quicker.

Hope that helps.... (So 5/6 point will be good to 10.00 or 135 mph MAX, unless it's a convertable then you need a full cage at 10.99 and quicker!)

9.99 in the 1/4 mile & 6.39 in the 1/8th mile you will need 10 pt and a lic.

Coach, it's 10.0. Go 9.99 and you have to have the cage certified, have a license, and a multi layer jacket & pants. Ask me how I know. <G>

I run NHRA almost every weekend through the summer, at tracks all over the southwest. I have a six mounting points, but a bar goes around the top of the cabin, and the front tubes go down through the dash, just behind the windshield. Swing outs on both sides. Nothing through the firewall. CM, not mild steel. All tig welded. Certified to 8.50. A 7.50 cert ("10 point"), I'm pretty sure, doesn't allow swing out side bars, as there is an X across the door openings.

That is what I was trying to say Ed. I hope to join you in needing the cage certified. Hoping to hit very high 9's this weekend.
