Default Race Fuel - VP Racing vs Torco??

Normally I would go straight with VP Racing, because I know of them, know they make great products everyone uses.

I was thinking of running C12, which I'm guessing is $10-12/gallon?
TYPICAL VALUES
• Color: Green
• Motor Octane 108
• Specific Gravity: .717 at 60

A friend of mine runs Competition Race Fuel, 110
http://www.competitionracefuels.net/viewproduct.asp?p=4

SG: .720
PO: 110
RVP: 7
DIS: F 10%
E: 160 90%
E: 211
Color: Purple
EP: 246
DIE: -0.3

I can get the Competition Race Fuel for $6/gal.

Any thoughts?

I run VP 112 but for $6 a gallon I would try 5 gallons of it.

How much compression? If 11.5-1 or lower, VP C11 is often faster. You have to run it richer, usually no leaner than 12.5-1, but it was worth nearly 1/10th in my car. Some guys try it and don't fatten up enough, thus never see the increase. Don't even try it if your leaner than 13.0-1. Could hurt some parts.
About the same price as C12.

I'd run the torco ALL DAY LONG for that price. Alot of people will tell you VP this and VP that, I've tried them both, and have had the same luck or better with the Torco fuel. That being said, run the Torco, and save your $.

For your power level (under 600 rwhp) you'll be fine with anything that's in the motor octane area of 110, and the spec. gravity of the 2 are very close, also something telling me that they're similar in content.

Torco it up. Or, if you want try both, and when you see no performance difference, then stick with the Torco

I don't know how fast you go through it but I've always ran VP becasue it is stupposed to "stay" longer.

either one should last 2 seasons really, it's leaded, not like unleaded at the pump where it's only good for 60 days or so.

I've heard that "rumor" before as well.. but I can tell you that it isn't really true. Plus, I don't know about you but I generally use the fuel out of an opened drum within 15 days of cracking it. I buy fuel in 5 or the 15/20 gallon drums (whatever is available), I don't usually get the 55 gal drum becuase it will take me too long to go thru all of it.

I buy mine ~30gal at a time because I gotta go so far to get it. I do know that VP C12 is not petrol based which is supposed to help it in storage. I am not sure about Torco.

Honestly I never looked into it. I have a dealer for competition fuels, Torco and VP all within 1/2 an hour of me, and believe me, I'll stick with the competition fuels/torco all day long. It's no skin off my back to get VP, but if given the choice, I won't run it, it's so damn overpriced, that I just can't rationalize it, when I can buy torco for 2/3 the cost and get the same performance.

I made my best stock longblock pass on VP C16 that I had stored for a year and a half!

I would say it keeps pretty well!

octane booster, I won't touch the stuff. For what that costs, and the unknown that creates... I won't get anywhere near it.

Just run the real stuff, way better off that way.

even Torco says that the concentrate is NOT a substitue for true race fuel, only for the "street driver" looking for extra performance

I'll probably get 55 gallons of Torco 110 to start. Because I have to fill my tank, my fuel jugs, and dyno tune right off the bat, I figure there goes a 15/30 gallon pale....so that'll leave me with enough for the season, if not into the next

Plus the refinery isn't more than 1.5 hours away, but I've got a dealer to drop it off at my house for no extra charge

I agree. I have also found guys running that stuff all the time end up with a brown coating on their plugs, causing a misffire at WOT. Either build a pump gas engine or buy the real thing.
