I have heard that some LS-based engines have hall sensors with 5v output and others have 12v output. Does anyone know which engines came with 5v and in which years.

I am hoping that my 98 LS1 has an 5v hall sensor but can anyone confirm or reject that? I know that it should be possible to measure the voltage, but my engine is nowhere near assembled so i hope that someone has the needed knowledge to answer my question here.

Checked the wiring diagram on an 01, and the cam and crank sensors use a 12v volt ref. I would assume 98 is the same. Hopefully someone can confirm.

I cannot confirm nor deny this, but thought I would throw this curve ball in the mix.

BWD's website has a camshaft position sensor for a 98 and cross reference only 98 model camaros and firebirds, which is CSS126, while the 99-02 camaros and firebrids use CSS1531

If the difference is the output voltage, seems like you would get your 5V response compared to the 2001's 12V
