Default Relocating to Atlanta, GA

I will be relocating to the Atlanta area and working out at Hartsfield Airport. Where are some nice neighborhoods to rent an apartment at?

I dont mind driving 15 or 25 miles one way to live away from the ghettos and slums and commute back and forth to the airport. If the apartment you suggest is nice and I move there you most likely get some cash as a referal.

I am also considering a condo, townhome or house to rent. A 1 year lease most likely for any living situation.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Chad

This thread was made late last year about the exact question you've asked.

I'm living in mcdonough ga right off 75 in an amazingly nice apt community. Doesn't feel like an apartment community at all to be honest. Awesome deals with private attached garages and private entry ways. Takes me <20 min to get to the airport. I'm also 5 min from summit racing and 15 min from Atlanta motor speedway. I love it there.

I'd also vote for McDonough. I don't live there, but if I worked anywhere in Atlanta that's where I'd live. You don't deal with near as much traffic as you do living on the North/East/West sides of Atlanta trying to get into the city, and the cost of living there is very reasonable. Top that off with Summit Racings HUGE warehouse store and Atlanta Motor Speedway down the street, and it's a good place.

Yeah Ive lived and worked on all side of town and the south is my favorite. Mcdonough is pretty laid back. Also got lake Jackson right down the road too.

Thanks guys, I actually found a house to rent in McDonough for pretty darn cheap. I have an interview with a company Monday about a job there, hope I get it!

I hope I get to bring my newly built 427 down to play with. Cant wait to get some track times in it!

Wish me luck on the interview!

Welcome to Atlanta!

I've lived within 30 miles of Atlanta for over 30 years now, and I grew up in the south side. So I can tell you with certainty that you went in the right direction... You wouldn't want to live much closer on that end. Everything directly around the airport has gone to crap. From Morrow on up on 75, and Union City on up on 85, and all around 285 on the south end, it's gotten pretty rough...

And as somebody else pointed out, in McDonough you've got Summit Racing! I have to drive over an hour to get there, but it's worth it. Mail order warehouse selection without the wait to ship!

PS
Good luck on your interview!

The further you get away from the major interstates, the better off you'll be. I keep moving further away from 85 because I don't want to be kidnapped and sold into Mexican slavery...but that's just me. We live in Auburn, and we're moving further up to Bethlehem. It's about 45 minutes from downtown without traffic. Anywhere in Barrow county is peaceful and people keep to themselves. Gwinnett is terrible.
