I pulled out the 509 big block my dad and i built im going to throw a small block 350 in my el camino im super tight on money i want to get the cam in though so i can worry about everything else as i get more money

this car is going to be driven daily for a little while because its my only car right now


so what size cam can i put in a stock 350 small block that would be good in power ?

oh yeah if i have to change valve springs i can fork out a little more money for that so i can run a bigger cam and i want the car to sound as nasty as possible ! thanks

Your cam selection will depend on what cylinder heads, how much compression and what type of intake you are running.

We need to know a little bit more about your setup. If you are going to be running stock 882 heads with 8.5:1 you are going to need a smaller cam and smaller stall.

If your compression is around 9.5:1 you could get away with a 274xtreme cam which sounds very rowdy. If it's your daily driver you might want to drop down to the 268xtreme cam but I would also drop your stall speed too.

XE288 comp cam and dont look back, they even work with **** poor compression. Just make sure the install height will be correct on the head.

ok so i finally got a motor for free! its a 350 small block stock bore flat top pistons with a little little dish... flint block not sure what year after looking up the vin i think its a 8.5 compression motor (sucks i know =[ ) i have a set up double hump heads 63.305 chambers 1.94 intake 1.5 exhaust

so with the heads i should be around 9.5 right?

what cam should i run? <

i want sound i want performance and i want high rpms (none of that 5200 rpm crap)

money is the only issue my heads right now dont have any valves so i have to buy some and i still have to bring the block to the machine shop to have everything looked over maybe cleaned up a little does anyone have any idea how much thats going to cost me? <

You need to find a set of closed chamber heads to bring the compression up and then add a smaller cam or you are going to be real slow. I would buy a set of used vortecheads for cheap then just upgrade the springs and put some n2o to make it go.
