Default Speakers not working

What are the Speakers that go in the area that is closest to the Seats?

When I first bought the car they were barely working..then they went out and I haven't gotten anything else to work good as a replacement.

Is there a specific type of Speaker that goes there?

I have a 1995 Z28, it has the Factory Bose System..it used to have a Casette Player, I have a GM CD Player in it now.

Thanks.

Are you sure you have speakers there? There were two versions of the Bose system used in earlier Camaros. One had three speakers (doors and hatch area sub) and the other had five speakers (doors, sail panels, and sub).

The speakers have individual amps connected to them. It's possible that the speakers are blown or the amps are dead. It's also possible that installing a non-Bose head unit killed them.

Mine has the 5 Speaker setup..Box in the back, two in the Doors, and the two behind the Seats. You can see them here in the pics..

Is that what everyone is calling the Sail Panel?

This is my car..just a really old pic of it when it was an Auto.

Yes, the panels beside the rear seats are called the sail panels. Sometimes they are called B pillars but that term usually refers to the pillar between the front and rear doors on a 4-door sedan.

Just FYI, even the 3-speaker Bose setup had speaker grilles in the sail panels - there just wasn't any speakers behind them. I don't know why... I guess it was cheaper for GM to use the same trim panels either way.
