Default switching to th400 and have some questions.

Well as you see my current mods are in my sig. Im switching from my 4l60E to a th400. First question is what is the weight difference between the 4l60E and th400?

Ive been thinking about putting a transbrake in with it as well but Im not sure how the driveability on the sreet is going to be. I dont dd my car its just a weekend fun car when the weather is nice. The car is mostly a drag car.

How much of an improvent will I see at the track going to a transbrake over a footbrake? This is the main reason for wanting to switch to a T-brake. Im just trying to figure the difference between it and the foot brake and how it handles on the street.

Last questioin is what kind of shifters are most of you using, what kind would you recomend?

4l60e is 170#s and a th400 is 140#..as for shifters, pro stick, pistol grip or cheetah all work well.. Its up to you to what you like..i like cheetah but got a pro stick right now..

A trans brake isn't gonna affect the car on the street. It doesn't change shift points or how hard it shifts. Thats line pressure and you. As for a shifter, go with a Cheetah. A trans brake will help a fairly good amount too at the track. You'll be able to leave at a higher rpm compared to foot braking.

are you going with a manual valve body (makes more line pressure)?

i've never seen a th400 optioned with a trans brake and not have a manual valve body. I personally love my manual valve body and would of ordered the trans that way even if i didn't want a trans brake.

i run a t400 rmvb w/ TB and the only difference between it and any other trans ive had, is you have to activate the transbrake for reverse to work... thats the only "inconvenience" if you even wanna call it that... the transbrake only works when you want it to... you dont have to use it every time you go from a stop...

My hughes doesn't need the transbrake activated to get in reverse, but if you have it in neutral, hiting the transbrake will put it in reverse.

I have a hurst pistol grip quarterstick... fits in an A4 console with a little cutting and it looks decent, and I've had zero issues with it for years.

So the kind of th400 ur talking about only using the transbrake when you want to and not having to use it at every time u go from a start is rmvb, is this correct? Is this the one where you have to activate the TB to use reverse? What other kind is there in a th400? Sorry for my ignorance, As you can probably tell I don't know much about this sort of thing. So bare with me here.

To get a trans brake you have to get a full manual valve body. You can get either forward or reverse shift pattern. The type of brake that the trans is equipped with will determine how you engage reverse, either by simply putting it in R, by throwing it in N and hitting the brake button, or any other stupid method they come up with. You never have to use the brake to make the car go forward. You just have to manually shift it.

I switched from a 4l60e to a 3 speed auto and 5000 stall and love it, and it's not bad on the street. I use a B&M Carbon Fiber Composit X ratchet shifter, and love it as well.

I have a rmvb w/brake 4200 na on spray 5200 launching off the brake. Using a B&M rac. shifter. Streetabiltiy really depends on your stall. I was debating when I got mine to get a trans brake Im glad I did.
