Lightbulb M6 bellhousing!!!LOOK AT...

Hello everyone:

I'm in the market for a bellhousing for my car,i want it so bad. What you think if we use this thread to push any manufacture to make it?If any of the sponsor have the relation with Mcleod why we not make a list on all the people who want or need one,to force them finish the product.

I buy the first one!!!

I will be needing one when I get back from Iraq in the summer and build a new motor/Tranny. I am suprised no one has jumped on this already.

Why is there bell housing going to be better than a stock one? I mean my stock one seems to hold up fine. When do you guys see the need for a better one?, Fred

Some of us have the nasty habit of spinning our motors to 6500+ and dumping the clutch on slicks. Then we spin past 7k. If a clutch comes apart at those RPMs, the stock bellhousing ain't gonna stop it. An aftermarket SFI bellhousing *should*.

But, I'll raise the flag to McLeod. They've been saying "soon" for at least a year now. Dorks.

Andrew, this is Fred from Staten Island. You gave me some awesome tuning on my 94Z28. Hey you really launching from 6K plus?? Wow, what kind of 60' times you running now? Also what drive shaft are you using? Between 2500-3000 rpm dumps my car is getting 1.84-1.86 on brand new BFG's. I'm just not sure on a stock drive shaft how far I should push the rpm's on this 99..

Fred, how the heck are ya? Been a while.

I run mid/high 1.5's NA (well, on the previous setup). Hoping that'll improve to low 1.5's NA, 1.4's on the bottle. Haven't gotten the 'improved' motor to the track yet, but that'll change soon... The spool should be buttoned up early this week, then it'll be ready. And yes, I dump at 6k+. That's my favorite part.

I run a Denny's NR Driveshaft. It's a heavy hoss, but I don't worry about breaking it. Way back when, the first mods I bought were the clutch, Moser rear, and driveshaft. I worry most about the T56 now...

In lieu of an SFI bellhousing, I run a bellhousing blanket. Feels like a bulletproof vest. There's a post about it in the Drag Racing section right now.

Yep, I don't need to have peices of aluminum, steel and whatever clutch disk matereial you use trying to cut my legs off. Nice to know someone has decided to make one. Thanks Mcleod, now get them ready to ship!

if the flywheel comes loose (breaks) you will most likely lose your feet without a bellhousing

I'm dropping my clutch at 6500 rpm...that makes for some mess

Actually, you guys might just be in luck here. That dude going to Iraq will need prayers as well as a lotta' luck. You have my prayers. There is a company that makes a magnesium bellhousing. The name of the company is Tilton, and it's their UTGC 52 series monohousing. It is extremely lightweight and strong, and is really made as a race specific part. The case is blueprinted to keep everything parallel. This is the kicker though, the price. It retails for $2119-$4195, depending on the type of clutch you want, everything from metallic to carbon. The place that sells it is Hoerr Racing Products, or HRP. Their website is www.hrpworld.com. Their phone number is (866) 851-7223, so you can get a catalog.

Its SFI rated.

Until tracks start busting nuts over SFI bellhousings, there's no way in hell I'd pay $2k+ for one. Even then, I probably wouldn't. I'd change over to an A3 before that. $400-$500? I might swing it. BIG maybe. $2k? No way. I'll keep my $180 blanket on there and take my chances.

Yeah, $2k plus is an insane price. Yeah its titanium, but if I was going to spend that kind of cash on anything titanium it would be a set of rods.
500 to 600 range is acceptable to me. Of couse it is for the mighty EL ES Juan so go ahead and add 200 dollars to that. Can someone post a link to some info on the mcleod bellhousing?

Thanks,
Brad

I was thinking maybe it was made out of a metal that's not terrestrial, maybe some sort of alien technology (Area 51 stuff). I'm thinking it's more than likely "unobtainium."
