Default flowmaster vs lm1

So right now i have a flowmaster muffler on my car with stock exhaust and gutted converters, i notice alot of people saying that the flow master mufflers are junk and slow these cars down so i was thinking of going to a lm1 muffler, how will this sound with stock exhaust with gutted cats? thanks

You can always swap to a single chamber. Which doesnt suck like the crossflow 80 series that everyone refers too. Here's mine

do u like hideous rasp? then get an lm1....otherwise i would suggest a hooker cb,maybe magnaflow, or your best option would be a custom setup. with the muffler of your choice. and i would strongly suggest against lm1/lm2/bullet with a small diameter o/r y set up. the rasp will sound like garbage. IMO at least...

loudmouth for sure over flowmaster!! loudmouth sounds great when you dont add longtubes. but when you add longtubes and an ory it is very loud, raspy. i have magnaflow which is a good sounding catback and great quality. ive got a 230 size cam with longtubes and its very quiet for me. doesnt sound very intimidating at all. ive been thinking bout actually trying to switch to GMMG or possibly duals.

If your not going to do the whole catback and your just going to swap out mufflers, get a magnaflow or dynomax turbo muffler (not the bullet). If you wanted the whole catback I'd say the (in order) GMMG, Magnaflow, Hooker. I had a flowmaster 80 series on my T/A (stock manifolds, cats, and y) when I bought it and it sounded okay, just wasn't loud enough. I purchased the LM2 because I wanted to put something on and couldn't afford a GMMG which I had on a camaro I sold and now I'm saving to buy another one. The LM2 sounded so bad I ripped it off the car 13 days after I installed it. They sound like junk and I don't understand how anyone thinks they sound good. Its nothing more than straight pipes with some cheap exhaust tips. But then again, this is all my opinion. And just so you know, the LM muffler is a waste, there's nothing in it...its hollow. Just weld up a straight pipe, same thing and a lot cheaper, imo.

I started FM and liked it but wanted louder. . . went TDs and LOVED it. . . switched T/As and couldn't keep TDs. . . Went LM1 and LOVED it too. . . moved and neighbors don't LOVE the LM1. . . another FM on my modified SLP LM exhaust (can undo 2 bolts and switch back to full SLP LM1 when the mood hits )

^sweet thunder. but i can tell you that will still have a lot of rasp.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_1gW9dtAdY

^my personal fav. mufflex with a spintech muffler. spintech offers a plane jane 3" cb that is cheaper than the mufflex. but it doesnt flow as well as the 4"...duh.

If you want it loud but not bad sound the LM is not for you. They are loud as **** but sound like ****. The more expensive kits sound good and are loud, its all in what you have to spend. If all you are wanting is to switch mufflers just order you a hooker aerochamber muffler and have the local muffler shop weld it up. You should be able to get the muffler and it put on for less than 100-125 bucks.

after hearing brians true duals i almost wanna go that route decisions decisions, what where you running for mufflers? so what would be the best choice of muffler to go with on stock setup thats going to be a loud deep sound
