A dremmel is good for polishing small areas such as corners or hard to reach places on larger items to be polished. But surface areas have to be done with a larger buffing wheel. Here is a write up I did on buffing, I used my dremmel in the corners of my throttle body etc.

Polish or compound? You can get Mothers or Blue Magic, or the like at Pep Boys. I use both, mainly mothers on nice billet pieces. Blue Magic works great on large areas, because it's cheaper.

That's for the final polish, when the piece is finished how you want, and its ready to bolt up. For the initial buffing of the piece, "white rouge" is commonly used. Check out eastwood, it's a link on the right. They have buffing wheels, stands, compounds, etc. when your ready to get serious. Good luck buddy,
Rob
