I had my 2000 Impala tested today(Owings Mills) and I noticed that they finally got rid of the rollers and they used mirrors on every car that came through, they checked every car for converters. This was a first at Owings Mills, in the past they would just check the gas cap and OBD test.
I guess it`s time to start thinking about a y-pipe with high flow cats.

Let me know were you go, and if they mirror your car. I would bet that most of the inspectors don`t really see what there looking at, especially on a crowded day. The only concern that I have is my bad luck, the sound of my car, along with the nice fuel smell.

Yeah man I'm in the same predicament w/ heads and cam....guess we'll see. Maybe I'll keep trying to get as many extensions as I can..lol.

My Subaru is due pretty soon, so I`m going to try Westminister and see what they do over there. I really don`t want to buy a catted y-pipe.

Ive never had, or heard of, or even seen the mirror move from the dusty corner from the Bel Air location.

I took a gutted, race gas, on radials, track #'s car there once...all they did was ask questions

Bel air is easy, same as notfast......never seen a mirror in the place. they are usually too lazy to even sit in the car to hook up the obd cable

Maybe Bel air is the place to go, I`m glad the Subaru is due so I can check them out first.

I think the mirror stuff was new over at Owings Mills because all of the mirrors looked brand new, and every lane had one and was used on every car that went through.

Its been a couple months so maybe the DMV is initiating some kind of program to crack down on it but who knows.

I recently took a work truck to the glen burnie location and asked about the rollers being gone. The guy there made it seem like they weren't going to be doing it much longer bec he said all the new cars don't really have that much emissions. But I doubt the state will give up that easy on a racket like that. It would be sweet if he was right tho...those places are a crock of shit anyhow..and no I have never seen a mirror leave the corner there as well. I've also been due for my test since sept 2009 and have yet to get a notice in the mail.....

It`s funny you say that about not getting your notice, I should have recieved a notice July 2009 and I just renewed my Registration and it went through with no problems. Maybe I should just wait and see how long it takes to get a test notice.

I took my parents 1996 Chevy truck in a couple of weeks ago at the Erdman Ave. Station and they used the mirror. If the lazy bastards there use it, it's a good bet they are doing it everywhere.

When I took my 2005 truck there two months ago all they did was check the gas cap and plug in to the OBD. The mirrors must be new.

My car is lowered so hopefully that'll impair what they can see w/ the mirrors.

I`m lowered to, but they were sticking that mirror under the car pretty deep and that was just for a 2000 Impala. I would imagine that my Camaro would draw a little more attention..

Like I said, next week I will take my Subaru to Bel Air and see if they do the mirror stuff... I hope not.

My cars coming up for inspection. Last time it was checked they used the mirrors and still passed it anyway with headers and a cam. Wouldnt be too worried about it...

Just took my Formula to the station on Ordnance Rd in Glen Burnie....No mirrors, just standard OBD and gas cap......Went on a Tuesday evening around 530pm......The tech was like, Yo how you get your car to sound like that? haha

Know anyone in PA you can register it up there? I know for a fact your car has cat inserts and are legit

They dynos were just recently removed. Back to tailpipe testing for all 95 and older cars.

If you don't want emissions testing there are some easy loopholes...

I am going over to the Bel Air station and give it a shot, if it fails, I guess I will buy a catted Y-pipe. Maybe you can drive over with me and when they can`t find the cat`s you can tell them you did the install, and that they have cat inserts.:D

Like what? I was suppose to do my emissions last Nov., but havn't gotten any notices. Either way, I don't care. I'm getting historic tags...if they ever do send me a notice.

I was going to owings mills tomorrow but now I am worried I dont have cats. Never been tested before I allways got a waiver because I could not go over the rollers. I may file for extension but if it snows I am not taking my car out of the garage.

I would like to know this one:

I think most of the loopholes have been sealed up, but who knows. I would go when they are busy, the employess who are using the mirrors don`t give a shit and they just go through the motions with the mirror.

As long as there are no SES codes you're fine. Like Giddswat stated above they just go through the motions w/ the mirrors.
