Default help need old poncho advice

Have a stock 455 wondering if I can run 72 cc edelbrock heads on it with pump gas on stock bottom end

Old Poncho Advice: take a Glad trash bag, cut a hole in the bottom, pull over your head, repel rain.

Should be ok, I dont think the deck height was very high on those pistons, at least the ones in my 400 werent.

That's what I'm thinkin it shud be around 11 to 11.5 :1 kinda nuts for a 455 tho.

How can it be that high? Are the pistons domed or do they really come over the deck that much? My 400 had flat tops and 72cc heads and didnt go over 10:1

See that's what I don't get the pistons have a slight dish yet people are crankin out 9.5:1 with 87 e heads. 455s are a bish I guess. I think the ram air 400s came with 72 cc but the 455s had huge combustion chambers like 115 but I think compression was 7:1 . Theis is for the 73 by the way. 72 is getting ripped apart and getting powdercoated awaiting a lq4 to take down george.

Yea it was funny to look into head and see heads with over 100cc chambers...lol

Thats awesome man, im glad to see it getting fixed up and enjoyed. It was tough to let it go but ive got too many projects and the list is getting bigger haha.
