Paint & Body Work - Minor Rust problem

Hey guys do any of you have a suggestion on how to stop minor rust on my girlfriends Pontiac? From what it looks like it's only surface rust and it's located at the bottom of her driver side door.

Any products on there that could help? Or any other methods?

use a rough sandpaper, and sand it down to bare metal...after make sure the sanded area is clean/no moisture...apply body filler (bondo) sand it down until its flush with the rest of the body...apply a dark primer to see if there is anything abnormal.

this is just the basic procedure.

Once you fix it, on my DD I spray the bottoms of the doors with a penetrating grease to help retard rust formation from the road salt up here,
