What kind of car and has the water pump ever been replaced?

If you have an F-body and it has the original water pump, you will need this Thermostat that has the stat and housing as one piece.

If you have a newer water pump and/or a newer Corvette, you will need just the thermostat and you can reuse the housing that you currently have.
