Smoothing vavle covers... What to use on holes?
Been doing a lot of app. upgrades to the engine compartments..
Doing my coil relocation tomorrow and wanted to do the valve covers at the same time.
What should I use to close the holes up on the valve covers after I cut them down and smooth them out? I am looking for something that will hold up to the heat without cracking or becoming brittle.
Thanks!

Going to part store now to get a few things... Might pick up some at the same time.. Won't be until tomorrow when I cut the mounting tabs off and fill them though.

The best thing would be weld & smooth them. If you can't do that I think JB weld would be the next best option, it can withstand a constant 500 degrees. That's a lot hotter than your valve covers will ever get. There's also stuff called Lab Metal you could use that might work better but it costs a lot more than JB weld...

yeah thats actually a good idea, i think your laziness will be a good way to test it out. and if it works knock down the tabs and refill.
r u painting or polishing them?

Painting.. I have done my maf (gloss black) throttle body (pewter) and polished the other small pieces on the throttle body.. Going to do black for now on the valve covers and then later on when I smooth them I'm going to do "trans am" in pewter and the covers gloss black.
Switched out my black lid with pewter bird for a carbon fiber lid.. Going to be making some kind of covers for the battery/computer/fuse boxes as well as relocating the fuse boxes lower down.
Any ideas appreciated!
