Default How much does a 4L60E weigh?

I was wondering how much a 4L60E weigh? Resaon I ask is Im going to probably pick a built one up in my buddies truck from FLP and then take it a few miles over to Speed Inc to have them install it along with my new engine. Could me and one other person move it. I then have to be able to take my old one back to FLP for the core charge.

One person can do it (I did) but two will make it much easier.

if the converter is attached it would be a 2 person job, without one person could handle lifting it!

One person can do it.. but it's a handfull. Best to have one peron on each end just for safety's sake.

I can lift the 4L60E myself without much trouble when it's not under the car. When removing and installing, two guys makes it a lot easier

Converter is around 50lbs (stock converter). Trans itself is around 120 I believe. Two is nice buy I never had a problem moving mine and I'm not a big guy by any stretch. Just pull the converter off first, put it upside-down over a bucket and let it drain as much as possible. Moving a trans with the converter in it isn't a good idea anyway unless you're using a converter strap.

Today I had a great Idea to bench press a 4L60e filled with liquid and torque converter on.
I asked my 7 year old son, if he was scared that it was going to fall on my. Sense I was making so much noise lol. He looked at me crazy, and said I wasent scared your muscles where scared they where shaking. Point being I did it! but that sh!? Is Fu <%€n heavy

To be precise, I measured a dry 4L65E at 133lbs, which might be 1lb more than a 4L60E:

Of course a converter will add 30-50lbs to that, plus about 10lbs for the ATF.

The Harbor Freight $145 transmission jack is decent. (Their $89 trans jack is NOT! Skip that.).

Here is mine:

$145 is a lot less than a visit to the ER and/or (seriously) injuring yourself or your buddy.

Agree. I've removed my trans a couple of times using the Harbor Freight jack. It makes it pretty damn easy.

@Nick King did you really just create a forum account, login, then use your first post to comment on an irrelevant thread from 2004?

Is it just me, or do we get a lot more of these necroposts on this board than the others?
