Or if you know what is involved for both cars please tell me. Someone wants an M6 and is willing to do the entire swap of both cars for free. And the A4 is as follows

Level VI 4L65E (was told it's good for 1000hp)
3,200 stall converter in it from Precision Industries
Lingenfelter transmission controller
Tranny cooler


I will drop car off at his shop that's at his house for how ever long it will take. He's going to swap everything from one car to the other. His is an '05 mine is an '06.

So is everything just interchangeable? Will we both need new tunes? He said he is going to do it complete as if both cars came from the factory with that drivetrain even if it takes a new gauge cluster. Is there anything extra that would need to be purchased for this to work? He posts on ls1gto and the post is in the drivetrain section.

ECU swap(?), cluster swap, shifter swap (pedal) (console, is the stitching the same color, if you care?), wiring harness for tranny and its computer, possibly a tune. dont forget the tranny cooler!

Theres so many people swapping the stock trans to the other option, both A4 to M6 and M6 to A4, just gonna throw it out there that you may or may not find someone with an identical GTO to trade lol

I got to much to just trade it. Not into uninstalling all my mods or getting less in return. Guy is doing the work not me.

Well he seems to think he can do the swap without having to swap gauge clusters. Hopefully we can easily swap the computer parts between cars and just get the cars retuned. I'll keep you guys informed or can follow his thread once he gets it figured out and I drop my car off to him. There seems to be a few guys interested in how to do the swap 100% like what parts are needed and where everything works properly like cruise control and shit.

I've been looking to get an auto and was seriously thinking about a TH400 but since this has overdrive and built I can't beat the deal since it's free.

just get every thing in writing. cover your ass and his. im not sure any one has done a m6/a4 swap. most swap to a t350/400

A guy posted on ls1gto and claims to have done the swap a few years ago M6 to A4. And can help with some info on it. Hoping he can help us (by us I mean the man doing the swap which isn't me)
