Default hatch pop button not working.

I have a '00 WS6, suddenly when we was changing the pushrods in my car, I noticed my hatch pop button wasn't working. I popped it right before I left the house to put my tools in the back hatch. when I arrived to my friends garage, it wouldn't work, hasn't for several days.

where is the first place I should check to start troubleshooting this issue?

thanks,
-Andrew

The button goes bad. Unplug it and jump the connector with a wire to see if that will pop the trunk. If so, you just have a bad button.

is the button a switch? if so, I should be able to just touch the two wires then, I'll try pulling it off later and put a meter on the wires, see if i'm getting power, I was just hoping it was an easy fuse or something.
