Fueling & Injection - Cutting bucket for Racetronix pump?

I recently installed a racetronix pump into my 2001 camaro. I followed the racetronix instructions exactly. For those of you who have done the racetronix pump, in step 21 of the directions its states " ..... Fold the filter sock so that the long end is folded up the side of the bucket." This is in regards to the filter sock that connects directly to the fuel pump. I was told from a person who works at a reputable shop that folding the sock may cause the pump to overheat and cause premature problems for the pump. His recommendation was to cut the lower end of the bucket as to not starve the pump. Can a rep,moderator or someone who has done this mod please chime in as to whether or not leaving the bucket stock is a problem waiting to happen?

No dont have to cut anything. The venturi hose keeps the bucket filled up with gas so it doesnt starve for fuel. You did it jsut fine.

btw, the reason I replace the pump was that I was getting hard starts and would have to turn the key over more than once. After installing the racetronix, it didnt do it for a few days and now its doing it again. any suggestions? I have read to replace the ignition relay, coolant sensor and the Idle air control. Im going to replace the coolant sensor and the relay in the next day or so. I hope this solves the problem

I've always had to do that too. Until I just added a new fuel system with a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. Now it holds the pressure good and starts every time.

I believe a faulty cam or crank sensor will also cause a hard start.

I did exactly this, followed them to a 't'! thanks for the input! ill be purchasing a replacement regulator from you soon. do the regulators usually go around my mileage? (90,000 miles)

No specific mileage. Various things can cause failure.
