Default Going LS-1 in my 1979 Scout II.

I have currently found both of these LS-1 but trying to decide which will be a better fit. I don't really hit it offroad to often but on occassion I do. Both of these are complete with ECM, MAF, Wiring Harness but trying to decide which is the best fit... Mating it up with a 4L60E out of a 98 GMC 4x4 and going to stay with both the Dana's Front/Rear and Transfer Case..Any help would/will be appreciated.

I have found both these..

2004 6.0 out of a Yukon (LQ4)

If the price is about the same, go with the lighter ls1 corvette motor to keep your scout pretty light.

Read this! http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=457799

Get the 6.0L. It'll be larger engine and DBW as well. The 70# difference off the iron block won't matter in the heavy *** Scout II. I lost Almost 400 Lbs in the drivetrain alone!

Ditch the idea of mounting it to the eariler 4l60e out of a 1998 GMC it'll bolt up but not directly the torque converters are different . Your better off getting a Gen III 4l60. Or better yet a 4l80!

I also run a NP241 as the Dana 20 transfer case adapter was really expensive and the NP241 has a better low gear anyway! Unless you have a Dana 300 then KEEP it!!!

Bo.... Great info some of the best I have found yet.... Also I am from Garner and have been trying to wrangle up all the info to do a full swap... Thinking the 6.0L is my best option and I have read that it is basically a LS2... I'm thinking if I can get around 350hp stock after ecm re-mod I will be good to go and have some decent milage. I sent you an email on Pirate4x4 also..

Thumbs up Scout Pics

Sorta the way I am headed.. http://www.bugzysrodhouse.com/1973_I...l_Scout_II.asp

I'm just now getting started on my 79 Scout II.... But I do have a laundry list of things I am planning to do to it. Best thing I have going is it is a New Mexico vehicle so the rust is minimum! I have to get a right front fender from being ran into something. Usual rust is back of front fender and front of back quarter panels. Seats are original high back buckets.

The 345 V8 Engine & Tranny will be replaced with a 6.0L & a 4L60E... Gonna build something I can drive daily if I feel like it and be able to depend on it.

That's sweet. I love my '72, it's just waaaaaay too underpowered. I was contemplating doing an LQ swap, but I've got a line on a '66 GTO (dream car), so I may not have her much longer.

Sent you a reply PM

What transfer case are you going with?

Also I like the gauge setup they run on the red Scout in the link. Way better than the stock ones!
