Negative Trader Feedback - Beware of smok'nZ!

Andrew (smok’nz) completely scammed me!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY
Let me preface this by saying I have been on the forums for years and have never tried to screw anyone over or scam anyone. I have 100% trader feedback on every forum I am on as well as eBay and have many transactions that can attest to my honesty.
I agreed to give him a great deal on my c5 z06 wheels are tires because he seemed like a really cool guy at the time ($700 SHIPPED). I spoke with him on the phone on (3/24/10) and specifically explained that the wheels were in great shape and that there was no curb rash, pitting, or chipping. I told him that the rear tires were completely done, one front tire was in good shape, and the other front was drive-able but was unevenly worn because of a misalignment. Andrew agreed to the quality of the wheels and saw detailed pics of the wheels and tires within my classified thread.
He asked me to ship the wheels via FedEx because he has had good experiences with them in his area. Even though I did not want to do so because I knew that the cost was significantly higher than going with UPS, I did so and it cost me $217 to ship with insurance. (The wheels were shipped the same day payment was sent)
I then received a PM yesterday (3/30/10) from Andrew stating that there were scratches on one of the wheels. I told him that I was very surprised to hear this because I inspected the wheels before shipping and advised him to file a claim with FedEx because I insured the wheels for shipping. I asked him to send me pictures of the wheels also and he sent me some blurry cell phone pics. Even though I was 99.999999% sure I did not ship the wheels with scratches or rash, I told him that I was sorry that he was not completely satisfied with the wheels and that I was willing to work with him.
Andrew asked me for a $50 refund and I told him that I had already taken a huge hit on the wheels with the shipping costs but that I would give him $50 out of good faith because I felt bad. About 20 minutes later, I then received an email from PayPal stating that Andrew had opened a dispute against me and that he wants $100 refund (although we had previously agreed to $50). I immediately contacted Andrew and he said that he had changed his mind and that I should meet him in the middle at $75. I was completely outraged but told him that all of this bullshit wasn’t worth my time and that I would refund him the $75 if he closed the dispute and we could be done with this. He agreed to leave positive feedback and close the dispute on PayPal if I refunded him the $75. Within the details of the $75 PayPal payment I sent to Andrew, I even specified this…
“Here is the $75 refund you requested. Per our previous conversation, in accepting this payment, you agree to leave positive feedback on ls1tech and you also agree to not open any further disputes or claims via PayPal or LS1tech.”
Today, I receive a text message from Andrew saying that one of the tires had the cords showing and to enjoy the negative feedback he was going to leave me. He completely went against his word and even though he accepted the $75 refund, went against the terms of the refund that we agreed to.
I am absolutely livid right now. Andrew is downright dishonest and a scammer! Do NOT trust this guy or do business with him.

This guy has a ton of postive feedback and I thought it would be an easy transaction. I WAS WRONG. HE seemed to be really cool when I talked to him on the phone and I told him that I would hook him up with a deal because I had just recieved a raise at work, got a good deal on my new wheels, and was having a great day. I got completely screwed. At the end of the day, I got $408 for my great condition c5 z06 wheels :(

i know man its just unfortunate that it came to this. i have never had a bad expereince buying and or selling on any of the forums i have been on (tech, pro-touring, lateral-g, cf, tahoeyukon, mtbr, norcal-lsx, e46fanatics, ect) .
its really not the money that i am concerned about and that is why i didnt mind "paying it foward" or giving this guy a deal. instead, what really pisses me off is the fact that this guy tried to screw me and is absolutely dishonest.
i dont want to let this guys' 100% trader feedback fool anyone else on here.
i dont know if he is just young an immature (using his mom's paypal) or what the deal is.

You told me one rear wheel had some scratches on it and sent me some shitty cell phone pics. I asked you to open a claim through fedex because the wheels were in great shape before I shipped them out. You said that it looked like the "rash" or "dent" couldn't have been caused by shipping and i told you that even though I found it very hard to believe, I was willing to work with you.
How do I know you didn't damage them yourself??? But I took you word and out of good faith, I gave you a refund. You then go against our agreed terms and tell me to "enjoy the negative feedback"

NO it is not the end of the story. First off, please use some grammar and puntuation so I can understand what you are trying to say.
I sent the wheels out in great condition and have people that can attest to that. I never specified that the tires matched and when I spoke to you on the phone, I described the condition of the tires accurately.
Even though you accepeted the $75 refund and terms of the refund we agreed to, you deliberately went against that.
Now you are saying that another wheel has imperfections and that you had not previously looked at all of the wheels when you accepted the money I returned out of good faith.
So that is my fault? Once again, I sent the wheels in great shape without these "DENTS or RASH" you speak of. How do I know you didn't damage these wheels on your own? I even offered to file a claim via FedEx since I paid $217 to ship these wheels with insurance.

Once again, I understand that you think the wheels are not as described. Even though I don't agree with you, I told you that I was willing to work with you and make things right (i.e. opening a claim with FedEx).
You then go and backstab me after I issued you an agreed to refund based on your subjective opinion regrading the condition of the wheels.
So it is my fault you did not thoroughly inspect all of the wheels before accepting the refund money?
Now you are reporting dents...You are ridiculous

Dents on rims don't happen very easily but they DO happen in the shipping process. When I had my supercharger rebuilt and sent back to me it had dropped at some point in the shipping process and bent the unit that hooks up with the motor. I'm just saying it "could" be the shipping co. fault not necessarily a he said she said thing.... Just saying... .02

I am looking forward to seeing some good pics as well. I inspected the wheels before shipping and they did not have curb rash or dents. Because I thought maybe I overlooked some small scratches or something I took his word and agreed to pay a refund. Here is the response I sent him:
"Hey man, I was really suprised to get this PM from you. Let me first explain that I pride myself in being upfront and honest about stuff and have never set out to screw anyone over.
I am 99% certain that there was no curb rash on the wheels before I sent them out. I washed the car a few days before and took pictures of each wheel individually because I was trying to sell them locally as well and a few people asked for individual pics. Were the boxes damaged at all? Is it possible the wheels were compromised during shipping? If so, I did insure the wheels through Fedex so you may want to file a claim.
When we spoke on the phone I stated the rear tires were done, one front was worn because of alignment but okay for another couple k, and the other front was in pretty good shape. When I described the condition, I was talking to the tread. To be perfectly honest, I was not aware that any of the tires were cracking. They never leaked air on me since I have had them...
Once again, I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the condition. Can you please send me pics of the curb rash you are describing? I don't know how I could of overlooked that...
Thanks."

Unless the box is really fucked up like seeing a wheel through it or something you cant open a package and then deny shipment.
I used to work customer service and customers would recieve boxes like this all the time. You can only refuse it before you open it. Ie the damaged part. They would open the package and then tell the guy to take it back and they cant.
Though through the paypal thing it sounds to me like your getting shafted. Shoulda have filed a claim with fed ex with the pictures you had of the wheels if it was a legit claim.

Those are the pics he sent me and said that those were all from the same wheel. It doesn't look like anything I saw before I shipped them and that is why I thought the damage could have occurred during shipment. It is also very difficult to tell how deep or serious the scratches are. Regardless, I refunded the money because I felt really bad about it and so that he could repair the wheel. Then this buyer backstabbed me and deliberately violated our agreement because he supposedly had not inspected all of the wheels.
Andrew- if you were a man of your word, you would have called me to discuss instead of cowardly sending me a text message saying "enjoy the negative feedback"

The wheels are insured through FedEx righ? If so just file the claim see what they give you and call it a day. I understand its $750, but these are not some one of a kind 3-piece forged wheels. Even if FedEx gives you 75% of what the wheels are worth, you can replace the badones and call it a day.

I usually dont get involved in the disputes, but I do cruise through here to see the names, that way if I ever do have a "deal" come up, the name will ring a bell.....
Anyways, reading through this post, I got fucked like this on another board about 6 months ago. Almost the SAME scenario, instead of wheels it was a transmission. Long and short of it is, its fucking bullshit!!!! If your not happy, send them back, and go buy a different set of wheels. Your TRYING to nit-pick and whine/complain about something that is nothing to try and SCAM some of your money back, and in the long run get a BETTER deal for YOU- Its fuckin BULLSHIT!!!!!!
Just this morning, I was going through the classifieds, and came across this post:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/parts-classifieds/1250117-my-build-sale.html
While I was reading through it, I saw that you got all PISSY because you felt that he was asking to much for HIS motor. "well at 3500 for the shortblock it will never sell you can dam near get new 408's from sponcers" Post #18 in the thread above. It gets better though........ after the OP says, well thats the price, YOU get really whiney, and decide to show us your AWESOME math skills!!!!! Here is the quote "you wanted 4500 so minus the 1100 for the heads and 800 for the intake thats 2600 why not sell it for 2500? that makes no sence to me unless your really not trying to part it out and if thats the case just tell people your not gonna part it out PERIOD" That would be post #20 in the same ad. The best post of the whole thread though is #25, here it is "lol sounds like a real (honest) seller someone should jump on this deal asap"
Here's an idea- maybe he saw this thread and DIDNT WANNA FUCKIN DEAL WITH YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I wouldnt- just for the simple fact that you are fucking this guy around on wheels, I could just imagine if you bought a used motor from someone............. Ive havent been screwed by anyone on here, and after about $8,000 in buyin/sellin from here, I think for the most part, the guys/gals on here are good, legit, stand up people. You sir, are the reason why though, everytime I buy/sell on a board I have that worry in the back of my mind............. and its fuckin sad that it has to be that way.

I guess you "won" in the end cause you managed to tarnish a tech members trader raiting and paypal account raiting as well as have him foot the bill to send you a full set of wheels cross country both ways no less (standing ovation) :barf:
It's disgusting... Good fortune in the near future Kid....

So let me guess, its the second set of wheels that you got "almost free", huh????? :eyes:
"no that would be retarded why would i spend 100-150 shipping the wheels back when there's nothing wrong with the wheels, I can just manipulate the system and file a dispute and get most of my money back and keep the wheels........ Fixed for ya-
Really kinda surprised that there was no response to my post in here this morning................seeing how he has excuses/reasons for everything else

God damn, I missed some drama. You gonna be home on lunch today Andrew, still not sure if the camera will be here at work as we are shipping several vessels out this week & the shop foreman had it last I knew of. But I can come by & look at the wheels & inspect the damage being spoken of.
For what its worth people on here who know me know I'm no liar & have no reason to lie. Hell I've never even had a deal go anywhere near sour on here thank god. I'll go look at the wheels as a third party & report back what I find.
I will say this with 100% faith weather the seller or anyone else who has chimed in wants to believe it or not, Andrew would NOT damage a item after recieving it. I have known him for a few years now & seen all the parts he has bought & sold. He is not a scammer as being accused of as far as I know. I have never known him to be anyway.
I'm sorry I couldn't get a good camera over to him so he could get better pics. But to be honest I have seen him recieve products not as described several times. Including a set of drag wheels with dents in them that the seller never mentioned. It is very possible for items to be damaged in shipping no matter what company used especially if not packaged properly.
I'll check it all out & report back & if I can get the camera I'll have pics to post as well. I'm not taking a side here but since I'm local & can swing by to see whats goin on I'm offering my time & eyes to check it all out.

OK guys, here is my report back. I do not know the full extent of all the transaction details but here is what I noticed.
Driver side front:
Everything looks good except a spot on the lip that appears to be a thin scratch possibly all the way thru the chrome. I told Andrew it could be a mark from the previous owner having a new tire mounted at some time & the tire tech was sloppy. Easily could have been overlooked before sale but none the less there is a scratch.
Driver side rear:
Everything looked great to me with the rim itself. The tire is completely bald but that could have already been discussed between them proir to sell. They can clear this up.
Passanger side front:
First thing I noticed was a "chip" out of the chrome on one of the spokes. And it definetly goes all the way thru to the raw aluminum below the chrome plating. Next thing I noticed was a obvious flat spot that looked to be the full width of the tire. IMO it looks like someone slammed on the brakes at some point causing the flat spot. No other place on the tire would lead me to thinnk anything else could cause this.
Passanger side rear:
Noticed the wheel does indeed have some curb rash. Very minnor compared to some I have seen before but once again there is indeed some rash. Besides the tire being bald there is also obvious scaring in the sidewall where you can see that it was curbed and there is a chunk loose as well. Its not completely torn off yet but very noticeable.
This is what I noticed.

How about this. Quit bitching. If you don't like the fucking wheels, send them back to him, get your money back, and get some other wheels. From what I have seen, FadedSS has done everything he can to oblige you. You're not happy with what you have, so send them back if it's that bad. Otherwise, forget about it.

I have worked for FED EX for 3 yrs,I have delivered alot of rims, tires, heads etc..The packages get handled by alot of people before they reach their destination. It is very possible that they were damaged during shipping. He did purchase insurance on the wheels, therfore you need to file a damage claim with FED EX.Here is my question for the person who bought the wheels, what was the condition of the boxes when they were delivered?

625 is a great price for those wheels stop being a jerk off you sound like a 12 year old. Those are c5 z06 wheels dammit!
I just sold some NON CHROME C5 y2K wheels with shitty mismatched tires and one wheel had rash other had scratches for 250 bucks and a set of zr1s with decent treaded 275/17's!! I was going to take 550 cash.
Y2k wheels are def not worth as much as z06's. You sir got a great deal stop crying.

Ok, so lets forget that you got a great deal to begin with. I mean why should we even think about that?
Here's why you're an asshole.
THE GUY INSURED THE WHEELS
He did all he could to make sure it'd get to you with no problems and all you want is a refund. A logical person would have gone the insurance route.
Why do you think it took more days for the 4th wheel to arrive? Maybe it fell off a truck somewhere? Maybe it got stuck in a machine, who knows. IT DOESN"T MATTER - he insured the rims, at least TRY using it.
Also - who the fuck cannot afford a good camera these days? Hell you can get a 3.2 mp camera for less than 50 bucks.
The fact that you have no posted pictures SCREAMS scammer to me. Here's an idea...got any friends or family? ONE of them has to have a camera, or just go buy one with your 75 dollar refund.
725 shipped for 4 rims without tires isn't that bad of a deal..... if he told you only one tire out of 4 was in good shape and you don't have the cash to buy 3 new tires I DONT KNOW WHY YOU EVEN BOUGHT THEM>

Especially me? If you knew shit, you would've bought a new set from OE wheels for $600 less tires. Good call on your part.
Regardless, when I'm not happy with something I buy, I return it. You getting on here complaining makes you look like an idiot.
Whether or not you handled the situation correctly, the way you're representing yourself on here is giving off the perception that you're in the wrong.

i gave up on this a while ago but im just gonna keep the rims and when i sell them ill put detailed pics up but i dont see what pics of this are gonna prove mike described what they looked like he said they were mint i already bought rear tires for them and now i need to go buy one front and to be honest i could give a fuck less about the wheels right now im in the middle of a rear end swap, intake install, and putting some heads on my car so looks are not as important
