Default Stock Stereo Question

I have a 94 Formula with the 10 speaker option and the sound is going up and down, it will get clear and then go kind of muffled. My left front speakers do not work? Does this sound like a head unit problem or amp? I am assuming there is an external amp?

Sounds like a HU problem, as the only amp in our systems (10 speaker premium) is in the passenger sail panel and it controls mid/bass that goes to the sailpanel speakers only. The volume control **** is problematic on our HU's and can go bad or get junk under it causing what you are talking about as well.

The amp in the 10-speaker premium system powers only the sail panel subs. All other speakers run straight off the head unit. Your problem sounds like it is probably in the head unit and possibly blown front speakers.

I just ordered a replacement cd head unit as it still has the stock cassette. Can anyone tell me the difference in the single bass/treble contol verses the equilizer series head units? Any power difference or just tunability?

To my knowledge, the difference is the model of car. Firebirds came with equalizers and Camaros came with tone controls. The two are interchangeable (except Camaro Bose systems) but the color won't match (both faceplate and illumination colors).
